Many, many Games ago there was a thread to discuss tributes that stood out as being particularly villainous, and tributes that stood out as being "good guys" (as much as one can in the Games) – these threads were some of my favorite discussions in the HG Discussion board, so I thought I'd bring them back before the 69th (lol) Games gets underway.
So, a few points of discussion, shamelessly lifted from the old old threads:
So the next reaping is a week and what I want to know is, in these last few games, who has been the best villian? The scariest, the meanest, the most intimidating. The one that you didn't expect, the most annoying, maybe the one that the had best moment, just the villian that you remember the best.
Who, in Hunger Games past, have you seen as a hero? What makes a tribute a hero? Is it really all perspective? Is a hero just someone that you're rooting for, or is there some special "hero-ness" about them? Do you find yourself more annoyed with the heroes or more enamored with them? Is there a point to even being a hero in the Hunger Games? Is it even possible?
I'm really interested to hear how opinions on the matter have changed over the last twelve Games, I'll weigh in later. For now: any thoughts? Any notable examples of "heroes" and "villains" that you're particularly fond of? Which tribute do you think is the best embodiment of each? Or do you think that every tribute falls in a grey area, or somewhere along a spectrum? Are there other variables we need to consider? Is anyone even interested in having this discussion?
