I. Tesserae
-Sign ups for tesserae will be held for exactly one week.
-Each tessera costs $150. You must already have the money in your account.
-You may buy a maximum of three tesserae for each of your characters.
-Buying a tessera DOES NOT guarantee you a spot in the Games. It merely improves odds of being reaped.
-Members may only buy tessera for their own characters.
II. The Reaping
-Tributes will be selected by a random generator. Older tributes and tributes with tessera will have a greater chance of being reaped.
-You will have four days to post in the reaping. If you do not respond to the reaping thread and you are selected, you will be marked as inactive and a volunteer tribute will be selected.
-If your character is chosen, you may choose to enter the games, or step down and allow someone to volunteer.
-Volunteering is a first come, first serve system. Once someone steps down to allow volunteering and a staff member verifies, the first person to post accepting it will be given he spot.
-Please do not post offering to volunteer before the selected tribute(s) get the chance to post. Do not post offering to volunteer unless the tribute indicates that they are possibly interested in being replaced.
-Bullying, pressuring, bribing, or blackmailing a selected tribute in order to get them to step down and let a volunteer take there place will absolutely not be tolerated. Any instances of this will result in a one week ban from the site, as well as an automatic disqualification for any of the member’s characters for the next two Hunger Games.
-Members need at least two paragraphs of decent length to volunteer. This is a roleplaying site, and we expect a post of some quality.
-If you step down from your place as a tribute in one district, you are not allowed to volunteer in another. However, if you have multiple characters in one district, it is acceptable to have one take the place of another.
-Members who have been in the past two consecutive Games must wait 24 hours before volunteering, or until the Head Gamemaker says they may.
III. District Tokens
-To prevent confusion, your district tokens should serve as your avatars, if you wish to have one.
-If necessary, you may send a picture of your token to a staff member and it will be edited and sent back to you.
-District Tokens may not be weapons or other implements that could be used as weapons, and may give the tribute no advantages over other the tributes.
IV. Training, Training Stations, and Training Scores
-The training center will be open for one week to roleplay, which may involve making enemies and alliances, if so desired.
-During this week, tributes must PM both their training station selections and their private sessions to the Head Gamemaker.
-Private sessions are simply a single in-character roleplay post in which the tribute displays their skills for the Gamemakers.
-Tributes will receive a training score from 1 to 12 based on how well they did in their private session.
-The tributes with the top three scores will each be awarded $500 in sponsor money.
subsection A. Training Stations
-Tributes may take a maximum of three training sessions, which will give them different abilities in the Arena. See the designated Training Stations thread under Hunger Games Information for a list of which stations are available and what abilities they offer.
-In order to do specific tasks in-game, you MUST have completed the necessary training station to obtain the ability. See Training Stations thread for more detail.
-You must send your three choices of training station to the Head Gamemaker before you send your private session.
-If there is a legitimate and logical reason for your character to have certain abilities (e.g. experience trapping) without taking the station, you may apply for a station "exemption" when you PM your training stations.
The staff member will reply with your accepted and/or denied abilities. If some abilities are denied, you may revise your stations list, as long as it is re-sent before your private session.
-No combat stations may be exempt.
-A maximum of one exemption will be allowed per tribute.
V. Interviews
-You may post your tribute interview on the designated thread as soon as you have submitted your private training session and received a score.
-Interviews are optional, but strongly recommended.
-You may post your interview in a question-answer format or actually RP the interview.
IV. Alliances
-Alliances should be declared on the designated thread at the beginning of the Games, as well as each time the alliance is updated (member joins, member leaves.) Alliances do not have to be declared as updated when a member dies.
-Alliance members will not be mandated to fight one another until the alliance splits or until only eight tributes remain in the Arena. If needed, alliances may break earlier at GM discretion.
-Alliances may consist of no more than four tributes.
-Due to the nature of the Games, alliances are not permanent.
-If a tribute is mandated to fight, they may not add to their alliance until after the fight. Any additions to alliances will take effect the next day.
-Tributes should take note that being in an alliance will increase a tribute's vulnerability to muttation attacks, and may have other consequences.
VII. Combat
subsection A. Mandated Fights.
-A certain number of fights will be mandated daily by the Gamemakers, based on location.
-Only members already in an alliance with the tribute(s) designated to fight may participate.
-If a thread is created for a mandated fight, but no fighting starts, the tributes who do not post will be killed. If no thread is even created to fight, both parties will be killed.
-Mandated fights must end in at least one death.
-Fights not completed in one Games Day may carry on to the next, without end-of-day healing in between.
-Tributes with broken or missing legs, feet, knees, etcetera may not flee at all. Severed limbs count for all fights; broken limbs count for fights on the same day. That is, a tribute with their foot broken on Day 2 could flee on Day 3, but a tribute with their foot severed on Day 2 couldn't flee on Day 3 or any of the subsequent days.
-If you post out of the established turn order, your post will not count (e.g. no damage will count). You must then post in the correct order for your attack to count.
-A posting order will be established for all mandated fights based on a first come, first serve basis. Even after a death, posting order still applies for the mandated fight thread.
subsection B. Fighting.
-The word "Fight" should be included in the thread title, if possible, as well as the names of the tributes participating (e.g. "All Things Go [Jones vs. Smith fight]") for the sake of clarity.
-Each tribute participating may make one introduction post. After the introduction post, the tributes may begin fighting. Introduction posts may be skipped in Mandated Fights only if the Stealth training station has been taken. In non-mandated fights, intro posts are not required.
-The tribute attacking RPs their post as they normally would.
-Tributes are allowed NO MORE THAN three "Generic attack posts" per fight. "Generic" attacks after the third attack will not be counted as an attack. A "Generic" post is one that does not contain any RPing and/or does not meet the site requirement for a post (one good-length paragraph.)
-At the end of the post, the tribute selects the weapon they will be using from the dropdown menu. The tribute must be using the correct weapon, or at the very least, the weapon nearest to it (e.g. a tribute with a dagger would select "knife" from the list). When in doubt, ask a staff member.
-The box that appears is a number, corresponding to the wound inflicted on the opponent. You will need to refer to the Table of Injuries thread or the Attack Lookup sidebox to see what injury and what damage was inflicted.
- Combat add-ons are now in effect. A fire weapon may be made with matches/flint/firemaking station. A jar of tar is also required. The weapon can only be lit in an intro post. The dice roll results can be found here.
- On Day 1, as with the Bloodbath, a tribute can only be attacked six times between their own posts.
-PLEASE NOTE: Any tribute attempting to stall (see below) in any fight will face serious consequences determined by a Gamemaker.Stalling: Deliberately delaying your post in a fight for an extended period of time for any reason, commonly to ensure your tribute’s survival or the death of another.
subsection C. Judging of Fights.
-All injuries correspond to a specific number value. These all count towards the tribute's Injury Score.
-Each Tribute has a Damage Tolerance of 40. Once a tribute hits 40 damage, they are considered dead, regardless of whether their alliance wins or loses the fight; however, their death does not have to be an instant process. It may take time, but must happen by the end of the Games Day. If both tributes agree, the tribute who put the deceased over 40 may deliver an additional killing blow.
-Factors influencing the tribute's Injury Score are as follows: Preexisting Damage, Direct Attack Damage, and Time Delay Damage (also referred to as Turn Delay Damage).
(feel free to skim this section unless you’re interested in how exactly combat works, as the Damage Calculator factors this in)-Preexisting Damage is the Injury Score the tribute enters the fight with. This is any damage left over from previous fights (after Decay Factor is taken into account) and random events.
-Decay Factor is the rate at which tributes' injuries heal, or rather, the amount of damaged subtracted from from the Injury Score from one day to the next. This is 1/2 the tribute's injury score.
-Direct Attack Damage is quite simply the damage done to the tributes directly from their opponents.
-Time Delay is as follows: Say you get a Deep Gash on Right Calf on your first turn. That gives you a score of 8. On your next three turns, you receive a block, a Tripped, and a Bruised Right Arm, bringing your total up to 10.5. You would add an extra 1 point for the Deep Gash on Right Calf, as it would still be stinging like no other and bleeding all over the place. This would give you an 11.5 after the four hits, rather than a 10.5. This applies to all severe wounds received in a day.
-Time Delay in a nutshell: Any attack that counts for 6 or more damage will add more damage as turns pass.
-Fights are judges according to this system. After a certain period of time agreed upon by both parties, when one party is completely neutralized, or when the presiding staff member declares the fight over, the scores will be tallied and posted, and the result of the battle (the deaths, injuries, etc)
-Any body part that is counted as severed (ie: “Severed Left Forearm at elbow”) and then severed again, or a part that no longer exists is severed (ie: “Severed Left Forearm at elbow” and then “Severed Left Hand at wrist”) will be counted as the opposite side (ie: “Severed Left Forearm at elbow” and then “Severed Left Hand at wrist” would be “Severed Left Forearm at elbow” and “Severed Right Hand at wrist”)
-If a fight does not end by the end of the Games Day, it will be judged as-is, and the tribute with the most damage will be killed, as long as all sides are reasonably active.
subsection D. The Bloodbath and Feasts
-In order to be considered an active part of the Games, ALL tributes must make an introduction post at the Bloodbath within the designated time period.
-All tributes wishing to receive items from the Cornucopia must participate in the Bloodbath.
-One list will be randomly generated for each tribute and posted before the Games.
-The number of items tributes receive is dependent on how much fighting they participate in, as per the below chart (for this particular Hunger Games):
-The only way to be removed from either the Bloodbath or the Feast is by voluntarily leaving or by being killed.
-All tributes who will be involved in the Feast in any way must make an opening post, in the same manner as the Bloodbath.
-When all tributes wishing to be involved have made their initial post, or after a designated period of time, a staff member will post the items that are offered at the Feast.
-In order to receive items at the Feast, a tribute must make a certain number of attacks, to be announced on the Feast thread.
-After obtaining an item, the tribute must make a certain number of posts before they can exit the Feast.
-During a Feast, if a tribute with an item is attacked immediately before they would have left with their item, they must either drop the item and run or continue to attack.
-In order to be eligible for The Wealth, tribute must be one of the first 18 to post in the Bloodbath. Tributes 19 through 24 cannot receive the wealth on their own.
-Tributes who have not made their introductory posts cannot be attacked in the Bloodbath.
-In the Bloodbath and Feasts, tributes must wait for at least three other people to post in between their own posts. If a tribute is in an alliance of four, they must wait for one person outside of their alliance to post before they can continue.
-Tributes may not attack in their fleeing posts.
-Tributes with any part of their leg severed cannot flee unless they have the help of another tribute, who must also flee. When a tribute has a part of their leg broken, they may flee with three fleeing posts or may be carried out by an ally.
-"Generic Attack Posts" are completely, positively, 100% prohibited in the Bloodbath. All posts must adhere to site standards.
-Once fled, a tribute cannot re-enter the Bloodbath.
-Stations are not valid during the Bloodbath, except First Aid upon fleeing. This means self defense, blades, etc. will take affect after the tribute has left the bloodbath.
subsection E. Healing
-At the end of each Games Day, when each Anthem is posted, the tributes' damage scores are reduced by 1/2.
-Specific training stations may be redeemed for additional healing bonuses. Please consult the Training Stations list after it is posted to see which stations affect healing. Please note that tributes must have taken these training stations in order for the effects to apply.
-Medicinal items may be used to reduce damage; please see the designated thread.
-Healing items or training stations may not be redeemed for damage score reductions in introduction posts to fights.
-The First Aid station will only apply in fights consisting of four attacks minimum.
-Needle and thread can only be used once per day; all other medicinal items may be used once per fight.
VIII. Activity
-You must post at least once with your tribute on each Games day to be considered active.
-Posts must adhere to the site's "one good-length paragraph" standard to be considered active for the Games Day. Filer posts will not be counted as activity.
-All days are mandatory unless specified or a specific tribute receives permission from staff due to vacations, illness, etc.
-Another member may be a “Tribute-sitter” for owners of tributes who are away and unable to post, particularly in the cases of tributes who must take part in fights.
-You are required to PM the specified staff member to state your area for the next day (see Section XII.) However, it is acceptable to have another member PM your location for you, so long as their tribute is allied with yours.
-If your tribute is in a mandated fight and you do not post, your tribute will automatically lose the fight and will be killed.
-Staff reserves the right to declare a tribute inactive if their inability to post consistently or effectively is interfering with the Games.
- All tributes must post outside of the Bloodbath during Day 1 at least once.
- For the finale, if a tribute's writer is gone, s/he may choose a tribute sitter. However, this writer cannot also have a tribute in the Finale.
IX. Muttations/Animals
-Capitol muttations will be present in the arena.
-Some muttations will be included in battles/surprise events that affect your tribute.
-Taming of animals is ONLY acceptable if it has been cleared by a staff member.
-Tributes should refer to the muttation directory thread for a list of muttations, their descriptions, locations, and the etc.
X. Sponsorship
-Tribute accounts will be set up on a thread. Everyone starts at zero.
-Once training scores are revealed, people may start sponsoring.
-To sponsor a tribute, post a reply to the designated sponsorship thread.
-You may donate anonymously by PMming the staff member in charge of the thread.
-The money comes from your own games funds, so make sure you have enough. When you sponsor, we will remove that much from your money.
-The money then is posted in the tributes accounts.
-Day 1 prices will be set for every item. A formula will be provided for calculations of prices beyond Day 1. If members need help figuring out how much something costs, they should ask a staff member.
-If a tribute finds they need to buy something, they are to check the price of that item on that day and then their account. If they have enough they may buy it.
-Items will be delivered to them via silver parachute, which the tribute may roleplay into their next non-combat post.
-There must be a minimum of $20 for each sponsorship.
XI. Betting
-Alternatively, members may place bets on the tribute (or tributes) they think will win.
-The odds will be updated every Games day and will be based on number of tributes left, alliance, number of kills, damage score, tribute inventory, and location in relation to other tributes.
-There is a minimum of $20 for each bet.
-Members may also place the tributes in order that they think the tribute will die, and will receive a 50% payoff for each tribute correctly placed (that is, on a $100 bet, if a member gets one tribute right, they will receive $30) and a 25% payoff for tributes who are ±1 position.
-These “ordered list” bets must be placed before the Bloodbath opens.
XII. Winning
-The last tribute left alive is declared the Victor.
-The Victor will receive $10,000 in Board Money as a cash prize, as well as a custom title declaring them to be Victor.
-The Victor is expected to post a response on the Victor Presentation thread. All other posting is optional.
-The Victor may attend one official dinner party open to all Capitol Residents, held in their honor by President Snow.
-The Victor may go on a Victory Tour and post in each of the Districts, if desired. This is not required.
-The Victor may be called upon to appear in other plots or future story lines and may fill these positions as desired.
-Victors will be exempt from all future Reapings.
-The player who owns the Victor will not be allowed to participate in the consecutive Hunger Games, but may participate after.
- Currently, no writer is permitted to win the Games twice.
XIII. Random Events
-Random events have all been determined prior to the start of the Hunger Games and will not be edited after the Games open.
-When the events triggering a Random Event come to pass, the Random Event Thread will be moved to a subboard in Hunger Games Information and the owners of the tributes it affects will be notified.
-A reply will be made to each active Random Event by the Gamemaker specifying whom it affects.
XIV. Gameplay Rules
-Tributes may only travel to one new area per day, and this area must be bordering the area the tribute is presently at.
-Exception: Tributes may move to an area surrounding the Cornucopia directly after the Bloodbath on the first day and may move to an area bordering that on the second.
-Before the beginning of each Games Day, every tribute must PM the designated staff member with the area they started at and the area they will end the day at. A member may PM locations for their alliance.
-Fire can be made using firemaking aids (e.g. matches) if the firemaking station has not been taken. If firemaking has been taken, the aids are not necessary for starting a fire.
-A fire can be used to boil three jugs of water max.
-Tributes must drink water every three days or they will die.
-Tributes on their last day for water ("Day 0") without water will lose 10 points from their damage score.
-After finding a water source, tributes may take one day's supply of water with them per water jug.
-Tributes must eat food every five days or they will die.
-Tributes on their last day for food ("Day 0") will lose 10 points from their damage score.
-Tributes with the plants station may collect three bundles of edible OR medicinal plants tops.
-Fishing can be done only with the proper equipment: a spear, fishing net, or fishing line. NOTE: Crude versions of these can be made with the Improvised Weapons station.
XV. 69th Hunger Games Specific Rules
- In mandated fights, a tribute may only be attacked twice per round. Likewise, a mutt may only be attacked twice per round.
- If a tribute is attacked by his or her allies, that tribute can only flee by successful dice roll or by killing the attacker(s). The dice roll is determined by the number of allies the tribute is being attacked by. The more attackers there are, the smaller the chance of successfully fleeing.
- Until further notice, suicide is not permitted due to the unrealistic amount of tributes who have done this in the past.
- A tribute can opt to receive a 2x healing rate (i.e. will have their damage divided by 4 rather than by 2 at the end of the day) with the condition that the tribute must stay in the same area that they were the previous day and that they will not be permitted to flee from any fights for the duration of the day.
- Weather Damage - At the end of every day, after overnight healing has been calculated, every Tribute will take 5 damage. This amount can be reduced by certain items that will keep your Tribute warm. In addition, your alliance can light a fire overnight if they have the resources available, this will mean that no one in your alliance takes weather damage, but every other Tribute will know your location for the next Games day.
- When sending your location for the next Games day, you must state if your alliance is lighting a fire or not (You must have the resources to do so). If yes, all the other alliances will be notified.
