Ants crawled up and down my arms, marched the path from hip to toe. I marked every one of their million minuscule feet. They turned my flesh to dust, this body to an anthill. But every time I tugged on the silken sleeve of my Capitolite robes, they disappeared.

Ants are so crafty. Like the monster.

I can't sleep, so there's no point in being in the apartments for Eight. Not that I could find them. I don't even remember coming here. I remember a volcano, a stream of lava, a screaming engine.

But none of that was

right?

I clamp a hand over my inner elbow, wishing they'd given me something stronger than morphling. It hadn't done nearly enough to numb the shrill agony of the

I'm not sleeping. And I'm not eating, because nothing can feed the monster. There's something I'm supposed to be doing, but there's lava dripping from my ears and I'm burning up with a million minuscule feet and I'm unrav e l i n g

"Do you smell that?"

A small girl dressed entirely in red looks at me with half-moon eyes. She blinks and I follow the fall of her eyelashes. There's a window opened no more than a crack. The smoke wends its way to freedom and if only I had melded myself to the black clouds, I could follow it.

There's more than one way out. The pale boy is part hawk and part lifeline. I save my eyes from the tyranny of seeing, letting eyelids fall, and breathe in deeply. It's a shit way to get high. The sweet burn of smoke in my lungs. It's been too long.

When I look at him again, hawk boy is sharply in focus. I smile, rearranging flesh and teeth and tongue and lava. "I'll bet that joint looks hotter between my lips than yours."

    Countless hours, so so many of them. They kept him prisoner, shackled to the ground like a bird that could not fly. Who the hell were they to keep him tied down like this? He was Prism Nixton, not some damned little toy of theirs. Yet now after he played tribute and danced around in their pathetic little parade he stood in his room.

    His thumbs twiddling endlessly. His mouth quivering with every single passing second. Sweat brimming his brow as the heat never seemed to die. His tougue danced and squirmed for its one sole desire. Prism needed it. For fuck's sake his body needed it! Withdrawal sure as hell wasn't part of his plan for his visit to this place. Luckily for him though he still had plenty in his lovely little pipe.

    Just the thought of the sweetly sick smoke winding down into his lungs made him moan. Even though he had tried his best Prism knew the fight was over as his hand revealed the pipe from his pocket. He grinned as he snatched a match and then vanished from his floor completely to find a nice little spot to pop the joint.

    His journey was long and tedious. Not just any spot could be used, it had to suit him. A place where they couldn't reach them if they tried. A place where he could remain for as long as he wanted. Lucky once again Prism stumbled across the perfect place.

    A window within a common hallway laid ajar just tempting him to climb through its passageway and onto its small little veranda. So as usual he didn't think or wait. He just slipped on though and onto the platform.

    The cool nights air whipped and flowed through his blonde locks now turned white by the moons iridescent rays. His blue eyes shone like electric lights as his fingers moved aimlessly to light the pipe, which within moments flourished with holy smoke causing a grin of pure delight to spring onto Prism's face.

    There was little to no hesitation as Prism tenderly touched the pipe to his light lips. Then with a swift breath he allowed the smoke to enter its home. His body swayed and cooed with satisfaction as his head ache receded and his haziness of highness returned right one cue. Prism then continued to let the smoke flow forth from his lips on the form of a long o that eventually vanished as part of the wind.

    Much to Prism's surprise though he discovered another tribute had discovered his little paradise. His eyes evaluated every inch of her fine body as a crooked grin stretched across his face at her joke.

    Prism laughed for a brief moment before generously handing the pipe to his new aquaintance. "Well that's not the only thing I imagine would look nicely on your lips my dear."

He isn't smoking a joint. A laugh bubbles up in her throat. He's smoking a dignified pipe, the sort usually reserved for Mayors and grandfathers. Except sexier, the smoke slithering between his lips. She wants to follow the

take up residence in his lungs. She wouldn't even mind if they were singed a little. What's a high without a little burn?

She cradles the pipe in her palms, blue eyes filled with its reflection. The monster whispers, but it's only a little buzzing, and she thinks it will probably be okay if she gets a little high, even though it's a poor excuse. It's a step in the ~~wrong~~ right direction. She draws in, the leaves crackling dry. It tastes of

thyme
mint
vapor
skunk
the earth itself

She holds it inside herself, letting the world swell in her lungs. For a moment, she knows absolute peace. And then she tries to take in just a little more air, to open her capillaries an ant-step wider.

She hiccups.

The world escapes.

She giggles. "That is some real shit." Another hiccup. She offers him the pipe cupped in her hands. A gift for a gift. "What's a nice boy like you doing in a place like this anyhow?"

Prism had always had an Aquired taste for the best of drugs. Thankful that his father was so damn rich ha could get his hands on any he desired. Including this favorite batch which now circulated from his pipe's lips. It was the strongest batch he had ever had and he loved it.

However perhaps what Prism liked more was a fellow person who shared his food tastes in weed. On top of the fact that she was hella hot. Sure his mind was thinking about FJ but the weeds all pointed to this find lady. Even his lips stretched into a smile that proved his satisfaction.

Although he didn't know what her name is he could tell she was a great woman. She seemed so strong snd brave. Along with the fact that she smoked like a fucking champion! Ugh Prism could already tell tonight was going to be great as the smoke continued to waft and waver in the cool breeze.

Prism gratefully took his pipe back with a wink and sucked in the smoke. Once more his body moaned in its happiness. This time though he created a smoke cloud like a heart before passing her the pipe again. His eyes focusing directly on her own as he smirked.

"Well I do have a very particular taste my dear. And as for your question, well I must say there is no nice boy anywhere around here. All that's here is a pot head and a lovely lady such as yourself who I could also ask why they are out here."
