Lithe and plain, the redhead Poppy has been bred to be able to climb up trees and cut them down. Her hands, often dirty, are callused from the bark and her nails often cut (or chewed) to nubs as to avoid dirty nails. Her hair, about mid shoulder blade, is often put up into something that wont end up lodged in a mill or a chainsaw so her freckled pale freckled cheek are often shown off. She is shorter, but her legs take up most of her body and her weight is average for a lower district teen. Her face comes off as mousy to match with her hooded hazel eyes and shapely nose, Pop's brothers refer to her as a Wood Rat when they tease her. Not only this, but she is scrawny, with thin arms and a little boy like body type, most are surprised that she is able to shimmy up trees like most of the workman in district 7.


When it comes to style....there is no style. This teen, being raised by her older brothers, gets hand me downs, which are usually splitter embedded, ripped flannels and barely held together jeans. The only clothes received that are new, are gloves, and boots for they are capital issued. Oh, and undergarments of course, not that she really has anything to support though. Winter clothes include a large coat that was her mother's and thicker gloves for work, the rest of the year she basically wears the same type of clothing, except for the reaping where she dawns a plain pastel green dress.

Personality:

Most people see the red headed girl to be a mouse;quiet, timid, unsociable. Yet inside of her she holds a lion heart, roaring, flaming and loud, kept silent by the quiet lips of a rabbity teenager who convinces herself that she is bred to work and help her failing family, that she will forever be met to shoulder the weight of their responsibilities to the district and then some. Oh yes, she lies to herself, at all times she hides the poetic rebellious edges lodged within her throat and chokes on it every time she witnesses violence or unfair events taking place between officials and citizens.


Obviously, Poppy is quiet, obedient, and keeps to herself as a 'model citizen', however, she has had a few outburst, for example, once during school, a student tugged her hair gently as a way to tease and ended up being yelled at and punched. This led to an immediate apology and a punishment from the teacher and her father. That isn't the only instance, but it is one of the most severe cases of her fire over flow!ing. Usually Poppy demonstrates self control very well, and keeps her silent, apathetic masks glued tightly to her face. Her only fear? That this mask will break. Her wish? That it will shatter and burn in the flames.


So in a nutshell, Poppy is a responsible, hardworking, and obviously to herself teenager with a lot of pent up rage. She mostly keeps to her family, making her socially awkward and bad at conversations, has the occasional outburst that will result in yelling and possible violence, and can get nervous when the center of attention.

History:

Born in mid fall, October 17th, Poppy was a healthy baby, who did not easily fall I'll, but often cried. She was loved and welcomed by her brothers and father, though the winter following brought the death of their mother through a uterine infection that was caused by untreated wounds after Poppy's birth. The family moved on, however, Poppy grows up ignorant to the way her mother was and though the occasional day of grief came a long, the child was well behaved with the matter.


Poppy was a well behaved child, her father had taught her to be so despite the tough act she would put on around her brothers. She would attend school, and on a straight and narrow route, Poppy came home to an empty house. Her older brothers accompanied her farther to work. This is where she learned independence; made dinner for the family, fixed any rips in her clothes with the old sewing supplies, and fed the family's pet which was a squirrel that often returned for the crumbs she set out for him, or what turned pout to be a her when the babies started to tag along with it. In her free time, when she could play, the quiet child would climb up the trees, up up up to the high world domed by blue, gray, red sky. And she would talk to her self. Making her seem strange, but she claimed she had an imaginary friend.


The day their father fell sick, when Poppy was 14, was the day Poppy began to work after educational classes. She requested to do such to keep the family afloat. Her childhood ended then, her imaginary friend disappeared, climbing was no longer a game, and the squirrel stopped coming to her porch, and its babies finally grew up. Yes, she was a hard worker, but at the cost of her wonder. This is when the rage began, and as her father grew weaker, and she grew older, she began to note the negatives, to see the tyranny done by peacekeepers that people ignored. It ignited her heart.

Her father passed away in the night, and with no money for a funeral, the three siblings have buried him their selves, and are now left to provide for themselves. However, Poppy does not emotionally budge. This is where it all starts.
