Katelyn Persimmon
"We don't want to survive... we want to l i v e."
Not long after Velocity’s life had drawn to a close, Katelyn and her allies had spent several minutes taking what they could from the cornucopia; chiefly medical supplies, food, armor and clothing that would keep out the chill. Katelyn had done so in silence, still in a haze over the deaths that had occurred already, especially that of her ally. She told herself to put it behind her, that there were people back in eight that would be missing Velocity and that she shouldn’t be so upset about her passing when there were more pressing issues. But it still hurt, even if she had only befriended the girl less than a week ago. After saying goodbye, Katelyn had looked for Velocity’s token, a small shiny looking crystal; meaning to stick it in her bag. It would have made her feel like their fallen friend was still there, but alas, it was nowhere to be found.
A few more minutes passed as they walked when Marc had spotted several tributes in combat in an area bordering them; a place filled with hills made out of snow. He had admonished that they should find out what was going on and dashed over there without a second thought, lexi running after him. Katelyn had been slightly more reluctant. There was blood on her hands already, and “finding out” what was going on was going to lead to more death. She stayed on the edge of the battle; of course, she was still ready to jump in if she needed to, but by the time they arrived, the fight looked to be almost over. There were too many tributes moving too quickly for her to recognize everyone, but she saw Mason, and the boy from the plant station amidst the chaos.
She winced when a cannon went off, and then flinched when a second one followed it immediately. The tributes scattered right after with exceptions of her friends and the ones lying dead in the snow. Katelyn shivered in spite of the warm clothing she was wearing and loped over to her allies, holding her ice pick loosely and staring at the bodies with a sort of numb interest, wondering if the two boys had suffered or died quickly, and who else would be joining them in the sky before the day was over. Staring blankly at the pair from six, Kate let out a defeated sigh and shook her head. “We should keep moving.”she said quietly. Besides the three of them, there was still fifteen other tributes in the arena, and Kate was in no hurry to have deal with any of them.
Yeah we lost all meaning
We lost the magic
So good luck to you on your way
