The Ice Age | New Panem Patriots vs 2 Charon {Day 2}

It's so fcold, and I hate the cold. Thankfully someone sent me gloves, and a tarp and rope - it allowed me to make a coat. It warmed my body up a bit, but the bitter cold still sliced straight to the bone. My entire body shakes, but now my hands are warm, and holding onto the hatchet makes it a lot easier. My fingers no longer burn from the cold biting into them. That's a plus, but as I move around I realize I'm lost.

Somehow Wyatt joined us, and Mason is wearing some sort of animal fur underneath his makeshift jacket. Why I even have the throwing hatchets is beyond my wildest imagination, but they're in my hand, and blood covers one of the blades. Wyatt is holding my ice pick. Oh well. Perhaps it was meant to be.

My eyes scan the area as the sun slowly sets beyond the horizon, and the fake moon rises into the air. I wonder what life is like back in district nine. Maybe people are warm unlike us trapped in the arena freezing our butts off. It's wrong to think, but it's the Capitol. Everyone of them are probably sitting on some throne watching us. Laughing as our breaths cloud before our face. Laughing as a cannon echoes throughout the arena - it's sad I have no idea how many people have died. None whatsoever.

I haven't said a word to any of them, but in all reality I'm so thankful that we found Wyatt. Admitting that to them isn't an option, but at least inside I have some relief. Something about him speaks to me, yet I'm unsure what it was. I'm unsure what's happening, but I'm here with them now. I move around with them following behind them keeping myself alert as I search every direction begging someone to come my way. Begging for some person to step foot in front of me as I wouldn't hesitate to kill them.

The anthem starts playing, and I take this time to rest and see who all died. I remember the four cannons from the bloodbath, and I remember running into Mason and Prism, but after that it's a blank. What happened? Why does my brain do this to me all the time? Is this the reason I hear the voices ringing throughout my mind? I shake my head and stare into the sky watching them one by one fly across the air.

My eyes full of shock as the faces disappear, and I immediately turn to face Mason and Prism. I'm fucking glad one career is dead since that means only five careers remain in the arena, and one of them is next to me, yet at the same time Mason lost someone from home as did Prism. A sense of relief floods through my veins knowing that Mystic is still alive, that she's somewhere inside the arena walking around fighting. Perhaps I'll see her one day. Perhaps I'll see how she's truly doing - I was rude to her after the reaping. I was rude to her on the train, yet the last day of the arena I bonded with her. The wall pushing us apart fell down, and I allowed her inside because she's literally all I have now.

And we all rest for the night.

Only I don't sleep. I stay awake gripping the hatchets as tight as possible in case I need to throw them. In case someone walks my way. The stars light the way showing the prints left behind. Anyone could follow them, and they'd run right into us, yet I'm prepared to fight. I'm prepared to save the lives of the three next to me, yet in the end my life is the one that matters. The crown will be mine. I have to win. I can't lose, but it all comes down to how well I can throw these things, and how well everyone else can fight.

Inhaling sharply, I take a deep breath sucking in the cold air setting my lungs on fire. We feasted today. My eyes wide as I look around as some images play through my mind. The mutt at the end of the cave. The way that Mason snapped it's neck. The red covering the ground, yet none of it explains where we found Wyatt. It doesn't matter anyway becaue he's here now. He's safe. All of us are as safe as we can be in this dreaded arena.

We will feast again. We will suck the blood out of everyone here. We will win.

My eyes fix on the sky as the sun rises into the air meaning another day has been brought upon us. Another day trapped in this arena as people outside watch and cheer for their favorites to win while cheering for everyone else to die.

And the journey through the hills begin. The journey across the snow covered hills as the sun slowly rises higher into the sky. My breath crystallizes before my eyes, and it's the most amazing thing in the world, but it would be better if it wasn't from the cold weather. I hate the cold, and everything about it. I hate it, and wish it was warm, but this is how the gamemakers treat us. We're a bunch of animals slaughtering one another. A bunch of farm animals being led around with a rope around our necks. They don't have a choice whenver they're being led to slaughter, but we do. We can choose to fight one another, yet in the end we don't have a choice.

That's whenever I hear something strange bursting through my ears. I turn my head in the direction of the sound, and I see Mason moving towards me, yet he's not moving fast. He's barely moving. What is he doing? What is that annoying sound? I shake my head trying to ignore him, but he keeps coming closer, and closer, and I'm not sure what to do, and finally he's standing right next to me. Literally if he moved another centimeter his feet would be on top of my own feet. Words catch in my throat as I fight to find the right ones because this is totally stupid. "Mason what are you doing? Has this cold gone to your mind?"

The stupid grin on his face goes away the moment my words fill the air, and I can't make sense of it. I have no idea what's going on. "I'm a glacier." I shake my head as he starts laughing. That was strange, and I just start moving away from him as he contiunues laughing.

Snow! Let's play in snow!

At first, I shake my head trying to resit it, but the urge grows larger and large, and I finally give in. Reaching down in the snow like the childish voice demanded, I grab a hand full of snow before packing it tightly into a solid snowball like I had done many winters in district nine. A large smile laced with innocence plasters itself against my face. I reach my hand back as far as it goes before swinging it forward with all my might releasing the snowball into the air. "Think fast!" I shout just before it slams into the back of Prism's head. And I can't stop myself from laughing. He turned around and looked at me before making a snowball of his own, and throws it in my direction. "Nah, I hate thinking." His words barely escaped from his lips as the snow plowed into my chest. The grin grew larger and larger, and the childish voice inside my head was laughing, and I couldn't help but laugh with it.

What are you doing?

This is not part of the plan!

That's whenever my eyes rest on these pillars rising from the ground. I'm running as fast as I can holding a couple hatchets making sure this isn't just some trick. One thing about this arena is that's it is absolutely beautiful, but whenver the idea of dying sets in, it makes the arena ugly. It's so fucking ugly knowing the ground will soon be dyed a permanent red. As long as it's not the blood of my own body, I'll be perfectly okay. I stop when I'm next to one of the pillars, and I realize it's completely made of ice. My eyes widen with excitement as I place one of my gloved hands on top of it.

"This is awesome!"

But a sound in the distance ruins the entire moment.

It appears we are no longer alone.
