Age: 13
Gender: Female
District/Area: District 8
Appearance:
Senalia has long, straight, light brown hair that flows down to just below her shoulders, framing her face. Her eyes are a pale shade of olive green with light, thin eyelashes around them. Her gaze is soft but distant, and full of wonder, as if she's seeing something wonderful that you can't. Her face is free of blemishes and freckles. She has thin, light colored lips. Her smile is kind and gentle. She's thin, and her skin is pale, giving the impression that she is very fragile, like glass. All in all, she's pretty, but not gorgeous.
Personality:
Senalia is brave, and gentle, and can deal with problems easily. She'll smile at anyone, even people that are mean to her.
But she has one major fault. She's fearless, kind, and positive, but there is a reason. Senalia is partially insane.
She doesn't scream at poles or talk to herself. She isn't that type of insane. But there is something... off, in her.
When you talk to her, she never makes eye contact. Her eyes wander around you, then stop and focus on something unseen. Then she'll smile her small, soft smile, as if what she's seeing amuses her. She seems completely unaware of danger, but manages to get out of almost everything unhurt. If someone tries to tackle her or hurt her, she's swift to get out of the way. But she continues to smile with no alarm, as if she's in no danger at all. She never seems to be afraid or angry. It's almost unnatural. She always seems to be in a daze, or walking through a dream.
However, this factor does not effect her ability to learn or communicate. She is incredibally intellegent, an amazing weaver, and loves to laugh. She has few friends, so she's quiet, but she still loves to talk to anyone who's willing. Her voice is calm and quiet, and very beautiful.
History:
Surprisingly, Senalia was a very serious toddler. She had a little bit of an attitude, and rarely smiled. Her parents were the only ones who could cheer her up.
By age five, she was still a very down to earth little girl. She noticed the bad in everything and could ramble on for hours about how one of the eggs she had found in the cupboard had a speck of dirt on it. Her parents became worried. What would happen when she grew older and discovered how bad the Capitol was?
Then, one day when she was seven, Senalia vanished. She had gone out to play in the backyard, but when her mother went to call her in for dinner, she was gone. Her parents searched for hours in the fields where her footprints had led them with no luck. They went home and cried. Their little girl was gone.
But the next day, there was a little knock on the door, and there was Senalia, the back of her head bleeding, with a small smile on her face. Her gaze seemed to pass right through her parents. And she seemed gentle and kind, not like what she had been before.
The doctors related this to her head injury, and said she might have lost her memory and be partially blind. But when the tests were done, her memory was perfect, she smarter than average for her age, and her eyesight was straight on. The doctors couldn't figure it out, and finally gave up and told Senalia's parents that it was just a personality change.
When Senalia was eight, her father had a heart attack and died. When Senalia got the news, she tilted her head to the side and frowned as if confused. She said curiously, "Papa?" as if she had no idea what they were talking about. She later understood, though, and for about an hour, was back to what she had been like just two years before.
When Senalia's mother died, Senalia ran away. No one saw her for days, and since Senalia was only ten, no one expected to ever see her again. When she was finally found, she was turned away from the orphanages for fear she would cause trouble.
So Senalia went back to her old home, spent the little money she had on cotton, and wove fabric that was so beautiful it sold for a high price, despite her young age. No one could figure out why a ten year old girl was such an amazing weaver, and no one bothered to ask. Senalia became self-sufficiant, although still slightly out there. She was soon known as Senalia, the strange little independent girl.
