THE KAINE FAMILYAcursed, acursed, acursed.
We are the lost souls, the dead and buried. We don't sleep, but we always dream. Tainted blood, dug up lies, and harvested consciences. We are damned, damned by the witch doctors and voodoo. This named is blackened by a curse, the name of Kaine, and we must cleanse it, my family. We must.
District 10.

Father Wade - 42, Rook.

Father Wade believes he is responsible for the curse of Kaine. He believes that his late wife's ghost haunts their home, and every night at midnight, he will wake screaming. He knows his children are cursed too, for they have the mark of Kaine on their souls.
On the sabbath day, he extracts a pint of blood from himself, and burns it in an attempt to cleanse his blood and rid it from demons. He is a man driven mad by obsession, and the loss of his wife haunts him. He believes that his children must do their part to be rid of the curse, at any cost.
Brother Billy - 22, Rave.

Billy is the oldest brother. As Wade is old and tired, Billy runs the family pig farm. In the four years since Amberley cursed the family, the farm has been a disaster. Illness takes the pigs, and the litters that do survive are weak and small.
He is a quiet man, who keeps himself to himself. His emotions are very much internal, and so he is seen as a cold individual. He dislikes Amberley, but not to the extent of exiling her from the family, like Wade wants. He believes that Amberley can undo the curse, just as she inflicted it. He also holds strong contempt for Otis, who he believes to be a troubled and twisted boy. He blames the curse for this development, and has tried to shake Otis from his obsessions multiple times, to no avail.
Sister Abigail - 18, Nyte.

Abigail is perhaps the only one who does not single-handedly blame Amberley for what has happened to the family. She thinks that both Mary and Wade were just as much to blame, for they looked into voodoo long before any of them were born. She believes that Wade wanted a son to be born pure and untainted, and that he performed many rituals on pigs, innocent at first, but then perhaps darker.
She believes she is cursed. She is a very paranoid individual, who thinks that a spirit is following her wherever she goes, always over her shoulder. She struggles to sleep at night because of it, and is incredibly sensitive.
Brother Otis - 16, Open.

Otis is a troubled boy. His mother died at a key moment in his life, when he was twelve years old. The loss rocked him, and he hates Amberley, thinking that she murdered Mary. He is desperate to bring his mother back from the dead, performing rituals and sacrifices that are borderline inhumane. Even Wade does not approve of his actions, but Otis is vicious, and violent.
He spends a lot of time away from the house, searching for answers in places where there are none. He scowers old libraries and listens to street rumours, hoping for a way to bring her back from the dead.
Sister Amberley - 14, Mylee.

Mary Kaine was killed by disease, although Wade is convinced that it was a curse that killed her. She was a very loving, but strict mother, who taught her children never to meddle with what they didn't understand. When Amberley, the youngest Kaine child, started to read up about voodoo in an old book in her mother's room, she was harshly punished, despite only being ten years old. Something horrible happened, and Mary died a few months after this. Wade now blames Amberley for inflicting a horrible curse upon the family.
She is a shy, withdrawn girl, who feels incredibly alienated from her siblings. They all blame her for cursing their family, although all she did was read a book and follow instructions. Despite being the youngest, she is the most down-to-earth, and doesn't even believe anyone is cursed. She thinks her mother died of an illness by coincidence, and the others are simply suffering from paranoia and grief.
