The Daylight of the Jewels (signup thread)

In District One, we are blessed. Each day we awaken to clear skies with the promise of fulfilling the need of our nation. We are hardworking citizens living under the kind rule of President Snow, and proud participants in the honorable Hunger Games. With such an existence as the jewel in Panem's crown, so to speak, it is fitting that our district will celebrate a festival known as the Daylight of the Jewels.
The festival will commence at sunrise and will end at sunset for three days. During the day, there will be music, food, and wares open to buy and trade. It is not obligatory to attend, but it is highly suggested, as it is a day to come together as a district and honor our way of life. All schools and work shall be closed for the celebration!
There will be a tournament of combat open to all of reaping age. All who wish to enter the tournament should sign up beforehand. There are sign-up sheets in all schools and a large board in the village square. Should it be necessary (though I'm sure it will not be) that there are additional people required to fill the tournament's brackets, it will be opened up to those above reaping age, including and especially Peacekeepers.
There is a dance at the end of the festival where the winner of the tournament will be crowned. The winnings include money, food, and a special festival crown. This will also be open to all of reaping age, and each person is allowed one guest. The entrance fee will be waived for all romantic couples in the district. Those of other ages will enjoy a banquet with games of chance present.
We are all looking forward to this time of joy. It is strongly encouraged you attend the Daylight of the Jewels.
how to sign up:
please sign up your District One characters below. If you would like to have your characters compete in the tournament, put an asterisk* next to their name. Each character will be assigned a number based on the order they sign up. The bracket will go like this: 1 against 2, 3 against 4, etcetera. The main festival thread will be in District One, but the tournament will be held on the battlefield. Each couple will be responsible for their fight. I will post the specific battle rules on that thread. The winner of the tournament will receive a graphic done by the lovely Stare (shoutout to Stare! you rock) of their character wearing the crown below. By all means, just because a character is not eligible to participate in the tournament DOES NOT MEAN that they are not needed and wanted.
The Daylight will start in an unspecified amount of time that I will have to work out with the staff. Signing up closes the second the festival begins. If absolutely necessary, you do not have to sign up here if your character is not in the tournament, but it would be nice if you did.
I will see you all on Friday! This post will be updated every day until then with participants in the tournament. Meet me in District One and we can celebrate together.
