The Way the Sun Burns (Joan)

Milen was sunbathing on the beach. It was relaxing now that summer was swiftly approaching. It had been 3, almost four years now since Mizar had died. Almost a year since Lulianna had been carted away by the peacekeepers to the detention center for attacking one. I still don't get why she had gone crazy after Mizar disgraced the family by dying in the 67th games. Maybe she just wanted to disgrace the family more. Have mother and father putting bags over their heads.

I sighed as I relaxed more, laying on my stomach in my bikini. The sun was so warm and relaxing as it gave me that wonderful tan that Lulianna could never hope to acheive bottled up in the detention center. I think for a moment, and then move a bit down closer to the waves, so they were just lapping at my feet before I lay down again, letting the waves roll over my legs as the sun turned my skin bronze. It felt wonderful.

I heard a noise, as if someone was approaching. I look up and put a hand over my eyes to shield them from the sun and ask in an annoyed tone, "Yes?" I just wished he'd go away and let me sunbathe in peace. It's not every day a career can just relax without having to go back to training.
