My name is Edwin Sapphire but I tell everyone to call me Red.
I just turned ten. I am a boy. I live in the Capitol.
Gale is my pokémutt.

I know the battle may be long,
Winners may have come and gone
I will carry on!

I've wanted a pokémutt since I first saw the older kids with them at school. I was only eight, but I knew then I would have my own and it would be the strongest. My parents didn't think getting me one was a good idea, but I did my best to convince them. Eventually they agreed that I could have one once I turned ten - as that was what the advertisements for them said. They took me to see Professor Oak, who was older than I thought he would be. He said he had three pokémutts that I could choose from, and that each one was unique. I was so excited to get my own pokémutt finally and I knew immediately which one I wanted when I saw the three of them.

Gale, who I named because he looks like a blur of wind especially when he's running around, is what Professor Oak called an Eevee. He said something about foxes to my parents, but I wasn't paying attention. I only wanted to play with Gale and let my parents deal with everything else - that's what they're for, money and listening.

Immediately, Gale and I were bonded. We played for a long time, and every day we would spend all of our time together. He liked to ride on my shoulders a lot, but as he grew bigger it became harder for me to carry him. Eventually he just had to walk beside me.

We trained a lot, too, trying out the different attacks Professor Oak told me Gale could learn.
