ELYA JOHNWAYNE | |
Due to the fortunate combination of a decade and a half of dedicated practice and desire to demoralize and destroy the competition before the Games truly began, Elya found herself spending valuable training time antagonizing the other tributes from the table nearest the racks of weapons. She'd resume her training that evening, as she'd scheduled herself to do, not that she'd actually need to learn much of what the trainers had to offer. She could already recite most of the plants by name, not that she'd expected to be short enough on sponsorship money that she'd need to stoop to eating salad. No, the only things to pass between her lips that had any hope of killing her were Gunner La Torre and Circe Lyon. Still, she got plenty of satisfaction from watching the contortions of anger and terror on the faces she had plans to ruin in a week's time. "What kind of parent names their kid Sue?" she wondered aloud in the direction of the fuzzy peach from District Seven. A better one than hers, in all likelihood, but answering her own question would spoil the fun. There was no doubt in her mind that Sue Tate came from a lineage as little-regaled as her own, but at least he wasn't any more the target for it. She on the other hand, well... the whole nation had seen Dan at his best and Dan at his worst. And saw his performance as a fitting metric by which to judge Elya's. For better or worse, her brother had garnered her more early attention than she would have otherwise received — though between her eye patch and her demeanor, she'd've earned plenty of recognition in her own right. She was sure of that. Some nobody from some over-represented middle district, though, he was lucky to have such an awful name to distinguish him. Without that, Sue Tate was nothing, nobody. She tilted back in her chair, feet resting on a pile of plants she suspected were tobacco. The corners of her mouth twitched upward as she stared, unblinking, at the tribute whose poor fortune at being born in District Seven and whose pathetic half-beard ought to make Elya pity him. But judging by how few of the others had any value whatsoever, Sue Tate had plenty of competition for the meager few ounces she had. | |
