VICTOR
"Aye yai yai." She groaned, a hand quickly racing through her hair as she closed her eyes, fighting down the urge to plant her fist in a child's face. It was embarrassing to watch as they failed miserably. Tightening her fingers around the apple she'd snagged from the lunch tables she leaned back against the wall. With a disgusted sigh, and a roll of the eyes she tore her gaze away from the tributes. She'd been sitting at the edge of the room for two hours, watching as the tributes moved about, fumbling over weapons, walking up to one another only to say something snappy or sappy. She watched as alliances were formed between the weak and the strong. She watched as children tried to wield swords as tall as they were or pick up a bow only to snag their wrist against the draw.
With the increased presence of careers the overwhelming disaster that often encompassed the air was somewhat more resigned. There were too many people capable of throwing knives from fifty meters away, hitting a target in the head with deadly accuracy. There were too many able bodied people in this room. Opal Earnest didn't have time to waste watching these children play, she didn't want to be down here, but she'd been neglecting the tributes for the past three years. She was tired of being scolded by the escorts.
Bringing the apple to her lips she took a small bit, hoping for something that would remind her, if only slightly, of the fruit Potato used to grow. She was sourly disappointed. "Disgusting." She spat, her face screwing up, as the bitter taste of an off apple filled her mouth. Glaring at the piece of fruit she wound her arm back before throwing it as hard as she could. Maybe someone would catch it with their face.
