June could still feel the constant burn of her closing wounds. The man who interrogated her had been less than kind with the flick of his chilling blade. However June was just happy to still have a heartbeat ringing through her hollowed chest. However she couldn't shake the odd feeling of utter silence and loneliness that engulfed her. Not only was Xylan mysteriously gone but all the other captives had gone oddly quiet. June knew it was clique of her to think but the place was too quiet. It seemed to be devoid of anything other than her own life. That was until she heard the sound of boot steps echoing closer and closer to her cell. Bouncing like gunshots off of the white walls.
Not before long three figures yanked her cell door open. Fearfully she shriveled up against the back of her bunk's frame. Visions of her interrogator flashed before her eyes with the scarlet rain over her blood. Tears were already welling up in her eyes as her sobs boomed through her mouth. However the Peace Keepers did not stop, all they did was grasp her with their chilling gloves and yank her out of the bed.
With a loud thump against the tile floor June wailed for mercy but was met by the sheer pain of a black stick. As the world began to tumble and spin into darkness she watched as the brown bag slipped over her head. She felt the riddles of pain seeping into her wrists from the kisses of metal restraints. Then finally she drifted off into a trauma induced sleep.
What must have been hours later June awoke with a startled scream at the darkness only to remember the bag around her head. However she could feel her body moving and the room around her swaying with a turn now and then. She could hear the sound of wheels screeching below her and that was when she realized she was onboard a train. Yet where were they taking her? Were they taking her to a private location to have her executed? Or possibly to the Capitol to become an avox? They couldn't though, she still had to get back to Sammy. He was waiting for her she could feel it. She....
THUD
June's body suddenly lurched forward as the train came to an abrupt stop. Within seconds of June crashing to the floor she was heaved up and her restraints and bag were removed. Terror filling her eyes she cried as the three Peace Keepers before began ruthlessly beating her back to the ground. Only once she was finally bruised and bleeding from above her left eye did they laugh and open the door.
Light flooded into the car as June screeched. Her eyes burnt like a raging fire at the first signs of light she had seen in over a year and a half. Then without warning they hurled her out of the partially moving train. June smacked to the ground in a massive amount of pain as she rolled to a bone cracking stop. As she laid there unable to move and forced to slam her eyes shut she heard the Peace Keepers yelling "Welcome back to District Nine you bitch!"
Even though the men's words hurt a deep smiled stretched across her dried lips. If she really was home then she could finally die in peace. Sammy would get to see her one last time, even if it was lying here besides the train tracks dead as a door nail. Maybe even April would see her one last time.
