Vanya Caine, District One {FIN}

Vanya Caine was a girl raised to be in prime, physical condition at all times. Though she looks slight and soft, yet like she might snap on you at any nanosecond, it is simply a facade for what lies behind her steely eyes. While they are a piercing blue, they are also a cold silver. Her skin in near flawless and fair all over her skin, save a sprawling birthmark that sits on her left hip, close to her lower back, she refused to swim without a one piece swimsuit due to her insecurity over the spot. She also rarely smiled with her teeth, if at all, because of a gap she had there. While people admired the fair skin of those from the lands across the waters, she did not want the teeth that were thought of so stereo-typically. Aside from that, she was proud about her appearance, her near white gold locks tumbling down her shoulders when she takes it down, and reflecting the sunlight, mimicking the gleaming of her weapons of which she trained with. When she would slash with a blade, or lift a hammer up and into the head of a dummy, a small glimpse of a tattoo would peek from her sleeve, a black Aztec pattern inspired from before the war.

As for her build and size, she is rather muscular due to always having access to everything she needed. Everything from recommended supplements, to various training facilities, to the physical trainers to assist her to help her get better if she injured during training. She is fairly built, but not so much that she looks like a body builder. While she wanted to be elite, she still wanted to maintain her feminine appearance to some extent. She held her own against those bigger than her, however, even though she stood at a less than average height. She was small, and looked like she'd push everyone away, but in reality she kept to herself.

{Logical and Intelligent}: Her mind was constantly pondering life's inquisitions. If you were to give her the choice between two things, she wouldn't follow her heart. Rather, she would weigh the pro aspects and the con aspects of a decision. When one option had more cons than the latter, she would select the latter. When it came to combat situations, she knew enough basic anatomy to quickly determine where the primary source of attack would be for a given weapon and situation. Her mind was like a sponge; she loved to learn more than anything and to expand her mind bank.

{Introverted and Quiet}: She typically kept to herself, even though the people around here were all outspoken and loud. While most of the students around her were thrilled to be out and about, meeting knew people because they found it easy, she was quite the opposite. She would prefer to keep to herself in her own mind. It appealed to her to stay inside and entertain herself rather than others. She found it odd that others found that enjoyable, but to each their own.

{Determined and Proud}: When she wanted to do something, and do it well, it hurt her to fail. She would beat herself up constantly over the most minuscule failure. It would eat her alive until she could succeed at something twice as great. She needed it more than she needed air, in her mind. Even if it took forever to succeed, she would never falter to see it through.

Growing up from that of a premature baby, she was often underestimated. She was always smaller than everyone, and viewed as weak. She was preyed on like the weakling they all thought she was. She was viewed as nothing but fresh meat and a fresh face that was easy on the eyes. Even her own parents thought she would amount to nothing. It hurt her growing up, until they finally saw her ambition to be something more than everyone thought. She grew up to be one of the most ambitious in the program provided by the District One government.

When it came to siblings, she would tend to get along with the younger kids at the training program. She viewed them as her siblings, since her mother couldn't carry any more children. It was all miscarriages from Vanya on. Her parents tried and tried to have kids and got very lucky with Vanya. It meant "Gracious Gift of God", also translated to be a miracle. Vanya was a miracle, but one that would have to stand alone. Her father always longed for a son however, and constantly scorned Vanya for not being a male. No matter how many times she tried to explain the fact of how gender is determined biologically, it was always somehow her fault.

She grew up as a gift to one parent, a burden and source of scorn to another. But she always tried to prove herself, because she was too proud to have anyone hating her for being less than what they wanted. She had to succeed, and wouldn't rest until she had it. Regardless of every crack of a whip on her back with every slash she made in the dummy, it seemed it would never be enough. She was unable to just say no, and stop. Before she died, she had to make her father proud.

You could say Pride was her fatal flaw.
