Name:
Daniel Allenwar
Age:
15
Gender:
Male
District/Area:
District One
Appearance:
There is seldom a time when Daniel isn't smiling. A laid-back grin seems to be his 'neutral' face, and it fits his happy-go-lucky demeanor quite well. He's often regarded as quite 'cute' by others, especially older kids and adults due to his baby-face, and his chipper demeanor does nothing to combat that title. Not that he would want to, of course. A rounded oval shaped face with ears that stick out juuust a tad too much to be inconspicuous, he's got hooded almond-shaped eyes, with perpetual 'I-just-woke-up' bags under them. Thick, slightly unmanageable eyebrows and a crooked smile, Daniel may not be a heartthrob, but he does have a certain boy-next-door charm to him, which he often takes full advantage of.
If you were to ask Daniel about his training regimen, he would most likely reply "Nothing special", but just a glance at his physique would tell you otherwise. He hit his growth spurt a bit early at 14, and stands at 5'11, and still growing. He's only 15, and still has a bit of childhood softness to him, but the hours he spends in the gym are doing their best to do away with any lingering babyfat, and as a result, he's got a decent amount of lean muscle on him. He's not some macho man, bodybuilder, but he's not one to mess with, either. Some might describe his physique as lanky, or wiry, or even scrappy, but the boy throws a mean right hook, and has the muscle to back it up with.
Daniel is relatively scar free, save for his ears. They were once pierced, but long story short, after his studs were yanked out (very much against his will) his poor earlobes have never been the same. He also has two parallel scars on his ankle, from where he broke it as a kid, and subsequently had it fixed. Otherwise, the boy somewhat resembles a marble statue, which is exactly the way he, and the rest of District One, likes it.
Being from the highest and most well taken care of district, Daniel has learned from a very young age to take a nearly gross amount of pride in his appearance. His naturally chocolate brown hair is kept short, and sometimes dyed different colors, his favorite being honey blond or chestnut. His hair actually has a natural curl to it, but he's not really that fond of it and often keeps it straight, to fit in a bit better among the other boys of his district. From a well-to-do family, his clothing is often immaculately clean and pressed, and he owns more suits than probably the president himself. He's not too fond of overly-formal clothing, though, and usually opts for more stylish, casual options.
Personality:
Daniel's friends would describe him as a very laid-back, likable guy. He's always up for whatever shenanigans anyone suggests, and even in the worst of situations, he always seems to wiggle out of trouble by the skin of his teeth. Not to say that he's a trouble maker, so much as, he's just willing to try anything, no matter how dangerous or 'against the law' it may be. He's not really one to follow rules very well, but then again, he's perfectly happy to spend a day in, being the perfectly well-behaved son his parents believe him to be. He's not picky about his downtime, is what I'm trying to say.
Daniel's family would describe him as the perfect son. Good grades, good attitude, respectful. Or, at least, that's how his parents would describe him. His two brothers, one older, one younger, would say he was not only an insufferable kiss-up, but a damn good liar. Daniel doesn't necessarily get along with his brothers well, and as a result, almost everything he does annoys them to no end. It doesn't help that Daniel purposefully annoys them as well; it's one of his favorite pasttimes to neggle and irritate his brothers behind his parent's back.
But Daniel is very, very good at putting up walls, and keeping them there. Daniel likes being liked. He likes being popular, and he likes being perceived as a guy with not a worry in the world. So he's built up this persona for himself over the years, cloistering away the only thing he's ever felt was a major flaw. He's anxious and paranoid, and in a constant state of worry that someone might find out his secret, but he keeps those feelings hidden very well, so much so that he wonders if he might make a good actor one day.
He used to attempt to let his secret be known, if only in tiny hints. The fiasco with his pierced ears was a result of him trying to become a bit more open with himself, and since then, he hasn't tried anything like that again. He's been putting up this façade for years now, and honestly, he's recently been wondering how much longer he can hide the fact that he's gay, and not nearly as masculine as he tries to convince others that he is.
History:
Sanit and Ruth Attanwar's first son, Joshua, was an easy baby. Didn't fuss, slept through the night. Their third son, Arthur, was the smartest baby you've ever seen. His quiet genius was everything a parent could have wanted. But their middle son, Daniel, was...well, he wasn't an easy baby. He was loud, he demanded attention, and he rarely slept while the sun was down. He annoyed his older brother to no end, and when Arthur was born, irritated him as well! The kid seems to enjoy poking and prodding his brothers to no end, and then playing the victim when his parents weren't looking. You've never seen such a shit-eating grin on a toddler's face before.
It was a relief when he began to calm down in primary school. His parents began expecting the worst, that he'd be a troublemaker in class, but he quieted down quite a bit, and all his teachers could ever say about him was that he was a model student. Of course, it wasn't that he stopped making trouble, it was just that he learned how to hide it very well. But during those years, he became quite popular, and amassed a large friend-group. It was also during this time that Daniel began to wonder if something was a bit wrong with him.
His father was increasingly dismayed to see Daniel shirk training to hang out with his friends, and even more so when he learned that Daniel didn't exactly get along with other boys. At all. It should have been a sign when he didn't like his brothers very much, but Sanit began to require Daniel to train longer hours, which only made the boy try to shirk training more. He started to become more rebellious to his father's wishes, and outright refused to hang out with his male classmates, though what his father saw as stubbornness, was really just Daniel's attempt to keep guys at an arm's length. He wasn't an idiot; at eight he knew it wasn't exactly normal to like boys, and by ten he had gleaned that his father would be less than happy to find out about his son's peculiar orientation. But that didn't stop him from edging the line closer and closer, right after he turned eleven, he got his ear's pierced, and pridefully flaunted it to his father.
Well, that just so happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back. Not soon after, Daniel was sporting torn earlobes, and a bruised sense of self esteem. He's never once cared about what his parents thought of him before, but after that episode, he began to try to fit the mold that his father wanted him to fit into. Training came first, then school, then friends. He became more popular among the guys at his school and gym, and while he never really lost his sense of stubbornness, he just now hides it very well from his father.
