Whysteria Verinia
A scream rents the air as ice blue eyes spring open, lungs gasping for air as vivid memories tease at the recesses of the girls mind. Her pale cheeks flush with fear as she leaps from her bed, small hands reaching for something, anything to hold onto, and soft fur greets the searching fingers, a gentle purr rumbling through the chest of a creature she has come to know and trust. “I know you’ll keep me safe” her voice is soft, almost childlike but she is not a child anymore, nor has she been for seven years, when her parents were murdered in front of her.
The nightmares had haunted her since that awful day, when she’d clung to her twin Hunter, watching in terror as they were taken from her by some terrible people. She doesn’t know why she’s still alive and breathing to this day, perhaps they took pity on the children and simply wanted the parents but all she knows is that they left two children terrified and confused and alone, utterly alone without relatives to care for them. Looking back, perhaps they were murdered for their money, whatever the reason, apparently they never got what they wanted as there was still a large sum of money waiting for the girl and her brother at the bank.
Clinging to the fur, she wipes away the tears that stung at her eyes, attempting to push away the memories of that awful day before she looks down at it, a warm smile forming on her dark lips. The creature she clings to is a genetically modified Snow leopard, bred to be docile in nature and as gentle as a house cat. It was a gift to her four years ago from an admirer who wished to remain anonymous. Barely weaned from her mothers milk, the girl adopted the kitten and named it Iceka, to represent the snowy landscapes her ancestors used to inhabit.
“Whyst, are you alright?” The voice causes her to look up, her eyes meeting those of the male version of herself, standing in the doorway of her bedroom. Releasing the cats fur, she nods her head, her blond curls bobbing with her head. “Another nightmare?” She doesn’t have to answer because he knows, he knows that she suffers the nightmares she does. Standing, she watches Iceka pad over to her brother and demand to be pet, nudging him with her snout until he complies and she cannot help the laugh that escapes her lips. Her brother looks at her for a moment before speaking again. “You know, that’s the first time I’ve heard a genuine laugh out of you in a long time.” He says, a smile forming on his lips. She flushes, her cheeks coloring as she stands from where she'd been crouched beside Iceka, brushing non-exhistant dust from her nightgown.
"If you want, I can stay with you till morning" Her pale eyes meet his, unsure about the offer as they haven't shared a bed in four years, when she'd gained a new bedmate in Iceka. She'd taken her brothers place but tonight, she felt she needed the warmth of family to help her through the night ahead of them. "Please." The simple word slips from her lips as she wanders back to bed, listening as Hunters footsteps follow her across the room, slipping into the sheets beside her and she curls up against him, breathing in the familiar scent of the one who'd shared a womb with her.- - - - - - -
The camera flashes, taking photos as she switches poses, capturing her from all angles while she keeps the smile that doesn't reach her eyes plastered on her face, showing off the pearly whites that sit between her lips, having been whitened specifically for this photoshoot. She wore clothes that she knew her brother would not approve of, showing off her smaller frame; a pair of white short jean shorts and a blue cropped top that was strapless, it made her legs appear longer and her chest bigger. "Oh, for the love of Ripred, Whysteria, you're not supposed to look happy in all the shots, I want to see that seductive look damnit" The one running the shoot, an older man by the name of Drakus, barks at her, making her pretty face contort into a scowl. A soft growl echoes through the room as her snow leopard stalks across the clear space towards her owner, stepping in front of the girl, protective against this man that she did not like in the least.
Drakus' dark gaze meets hers darkly, warning her that if she steps out of line again, he'll make her regret it but she doesn't care, as long as Iceka is with her, she's safe from his cruel hands. Iceka would rather bite his face off than let him anywhere near her owner, that was what she'd also been designed to do, to protect her owner at all costs and at times, it caused a few issues for Whyst as Iceka often got too overprotective of her, keeping most people away from her with a growl. "I'm trying okay, Drakus, it's not my fault I'm not exactly seductive." He scowls back at her before sighing. "Alright, it's clear you've had enough, why don't we call it a day and you can get some sleep. You did alright, tomorrow though, you'll do even better." He says through his teeth before Whyst nods and heads out, off to her other job.- - - - - - -
Lights shine on her body as she dances across the stage, grinding against one of the poles that has been meticulously placed so that there is always one available, a genuine smile on her face because she actually enjoys this job, entertaining the masses while dancing and flaunting herself. This was something she could do and not have pictures of it plastering the magazine, it was a free form of fun, at least for her. Her heals clack upon the hardwood, her feet feeling as if they're on fire but she doesn't care as she tosses her head back, flaunting herself in a way that she knows Hunter would never approve of. Iceka was sent home because this is a place where pets are not allowed but she knows that the snow leopard is likely waiting at the back door for her shift to end, the clever cat knowing exactly when her shift ends.
There are people here that she knows, friends, colleagues, fellow dancer and entertainers, all of them just want one thing, to see a good show or to put on a good show and Whyst would make sure not to disappoint, having made it her mantra to do well, The customer must be satisfied She grins, grinding on the pole as her small feet scream at her, wishing to be free of the damned heals she'd forced them into but she ignores them, continuing to dance because what else could she do?
