Zaarin Yaramenko - District One

Coming from a family in District One, Zaarin can afford to dress considerably better than those in most of the other districts. But he typically wears a cheap and  unremarkable black and white suit, not caring for anything too fancy. He is fairly tall, standing at the height of 1.83 meters (that's about 5'11 to those who do not use the metric system). Possessing a rather slender build, Zaarin is not particularly strong, but neither is he a weakling. He does have some upper body muscle, but the man personally prefers to not rely on brute force. Instead, agility and speed, as well as quick thinking, are his main strengths.

Zaarin also has a fairly average complexion of white skin and scruffy-looking brown hair. Some may consider him to be somewhat handsome, but for the most part, his looks are nothing outstanding. He frequently struts when walking an in arrogant sort of way.

A very reserved and introverted person, Zaarin appears to be an aloof and cold individual to the majority of the people he meets. The man lives by the credo "speak little, listen always" and prefers, as he puts it, thinking over speaking. That being said, he is a generally socially awkward person who does not usually get involved in conversations, nor does he have any real friends. He prefers being solitary over having companionship. Instead, Zaarin would much rather spend his time reading or doing some other activity that does not involve interacting with others. The fact that his parents did not spend much time with him during his early years got him accustomed to the idea of isolation, being more used to it than companionship.

Inside, Zaarin feels two emotions above all—greed and an overinflated sense of his own importance. He was a very arrogant person, although the outside observer would probably not be able to tell this, as Zaarin, being introverted, is quite adept at hiding his emotions from others. This sense of arrogance could lead him to make foolish decisions due to the overestimation of his own abilities while at the same time underestimating those of his opponents. But, that being said, it should be noted that Zaarin is not always foolhardy, preferring to carefully consider each move. The man is also very greedy and, inwardly, considers everything to be "his possession." Zaarin's enemies may also try to take advantage of his greed to manipulate him.

As one would probably assume based on his two main traits, Zaarin does not care for most other people. He does whatever benefits him the most without regard for how others may be affected by his actions. He does not necessarily enjoy it (he's not a psychopath), but is simply indifferent to it. He'd be willing to remove whoever got in his way, whether it be by killing them or by other means (although he has never done the former). The young man also possesses a keen, analytical mind, constantly thinking and calculating what his best course of action would be. When it comes to loyalty, he has none, ultimately being loyal to no one but himself. Zaarin can also be very stubborn at times and reluctant to admit a mistake when he makes one, a fact that opponents could also take advantage of.

But he never shares his emotions with the majority of people. For the most part, those who meet him view him as not much more than "that quiet guy" who prefers to stand at the edge of the crowd and not draw attention to himself.

Born and raised in District One, Zaarin was the son of a pair of jewelers. Both of his parents were to enthralled in their own jobs and attempts to rise higher on the district hierarchy to give their son much attention. This resulted in the creation of an angry and unfeeling young man, detached from others and being used to isolation more than companionship. He grew up preparing to be a jeweler as well, training in the art from his parents, mostly. But, unbeknownst to them, Zaarin had no interest in their craft. His plans were to eventually rise to a position of prominence himself, no matter what he had to do to accomplish that. Even he had to go up against the Capital.

 He also hated any idea of being defenseless, so he took advantage of his parents' modest wealth to hire self-defense instructors in martial arts and in the usage of different weapons. Zaarin has had a few years of practice with various weapons, mainly blades, and became knowledgeable in martial arts. His parents may have questioned why he did it, but they were too busy to care or notice. Zaarin had a mixed opinion of the Capital and the higher districts. He despised them partly due to their power and they way they flaunted it, but was impressed with their clever actions that allowed them to remain in control. Whether Zaarin wanted to somehow join them, or help overthrow them, he had not made up his mind.

But nonetheless, for the time being, he is willing to go "jump through the hoops" and appear like the average, propagandized, law-abiding citizen. His performance at school was fairly average and unremarkable, as he never saw it to be worth his time. Now, Zaarin spends most of his time studying subjects of interest or honing his skills in self-defense.
