kirito
victor of the 70th hunger games
Feathers danced softly through the air as they continued to fall until reaching the cold tile floor. The sound of gentle cooing originated from the throat of the owl Kirito's finger was scratching. Within the pale moonlight her white feathers shone so brightly that the black spots were practically eradicated. Not to mention her amber eyes shone even brighter at him as she swooned to and fro. She was completely a normal owl besides the genetic engineering that created much more obedience then normal owls. She was his companion, a tether to actual life from the arena.
A sudden muffled hoot sprung up from Imp as she began to fluff up her wings in defense. Kirito felt his eye brows raising out of confusion until he finally saw why. Once again the train had just passed through yet another gate. Only this time Kirito was entering the home land of his dead ally Olivia. From what he could see District Two was one hell of a rich quarry district. Kirito couldn't even imagine what being poor within this district was like, if poor even existed.
However what took Kirito by surprise the most was how different District Three was compared to here. Even in the lower districts the strings of lack of money was clear. Yet here it went from factorial and not as wealthy straight into probably close to top of the pecking order. Much of it made Kirito want to be sick on the spot, yet he couldn't bring himself to do it. As much as he could try to say he wasn't he truly was one of them now. Wealthy beyond belief.
Eventually the eerie wail of brakes filled Kirito's ears as he rose from his seat by the window with Imp still gripping tightly to his right arm. A sort of warmth traveled through his body knowing that he was having to care for her and to help her be unafraid. It felt good in general to know someone needed him as desperately as she did. That not everyone in the world preferred to turn their backs towards him. In a way she was his child to raise. His little escape from the cataclysmic darkness that always seemed to follow him in the wakes of his shadow.
Kirito was very reluctant to give Imp over to Finter when it was time for his speech. However, Finter had proven to actually know how to handle her since she seemed rather relaxed when Kirito returned for her. Yet as much as Kirito would have wished and preferred the evening to be over it was far from it. According to Finter he was suppose to dine with the mayor and his escorts and other people he didn't even know of. Still though there was one name that stuck out like a diamond in a field of coal.
Cricket Antoinette.
Visions of the victor of the Sixty Third Hunger Games swarmed through Kirito's mind like the insects of her jungle arena. Kirito knew she was a victor unlike any other. She was an actress and a total show performer, not to mention a highly skilled career. Kirito could feel himself shaking slightly as he remembered her breathing fire down upon the tributes in her finale and in turn lighting the jungle ablaze.
Sadly even as Finter walked Kirito and Imp towards the dining hall he couldn't get any information about her from Finter except, "Oh she is absolutely wonderful!" Which Kirito knew from a Capitolite meant jack shit. Yet Kirito figured he would learn for himself what the unique victor was like as the large doors opened for him as he arrived.
Kirito felt Imp's excitement at the sight of a massive table covered in food and Kirito had to admit he was rather hungry. However he always had to remember to go through the formalities first. Hand shake after hand shake followed by the typical congratulations and thank you's. Yet Kirito did notice the absence of Cricket. In fact he was beginning to wonder if the mysterious woman was going to arrive at all.
