For the longest time, my life wasn't worth living. Each day was just another passing day where everyone left me alone trapped within the dark corners of the room like some kind of bug waiting to come out when nobody was looking. My life fell apart. My hand was gone lost in the depths of the woods, but my life was saved thanks to the people gathered around. At first, I hated them. I didn't want anything to do with them because they stopped my death after the horrifying accident. If only they knew the life it caused me now, perhaps they would've let me die.
I did horrible things to my life. I ruined everything. I tore apart those who loved me. I tore apart myself. Selfish acts led to hurt feelings. To painful realizations, but it always brought back one tiny thing. It didn't faze me how bad my family was hurting over the things that I had done. Many times I tried to kill myself. I tried to find a way to escape the darkness that was surrounding me because it wasn't worth it anymore. My life was horrible. I had nothing left. All hope was gone. It was a dark place. I couldn't hide. Couldn't do anything anymore. I was just a person trapped in the world moving with robotic motions. Everything was lost in the midst of the storm.
But somehow I found hope.
The Highland games changed my life. I had done something amazing, something successful, and most importantly, I've made friends. I've turned my life around bringing home a bunch of tiny puppies. Looking at them forces the corners of my lips to twist into a smile. Petting them. Everything has become perfect about them, and knowing that they are mine as well as those I just met, I can protect them mean the world to me. Sometimes I lay on the floor of this old dirt house I bought with all the money I've saved up, and I'll let them crawl on me and lick my face.
A kiss from one of these puppies turns my life into something beautiful. It turns a frown into a smile. These six puppies have honestly turned my life around. And I have friends with it.
Gathering the puppies, I make sure they're safely locked away inside the house along with the goat and pig I recieved before heading outside with the bundles of wood. These animals will have the life that I never had. I'll give it back to them because they deserve it, and with the help of friends, together, we can accomplish a lot.
Placing the wood carefully on the ground, I try to imagine a nice fenced in area for the animals. Maybe if I only make three sides, I can use the wall of my house along with the door to give them more room. Perhaps it may be best to await for some advice. Yet it doesn't stop me from laying them down at least to figure out how much space the fence will have on the inside.
