Name:
Aidan Reid
Age:
18
Gender:
Male
District/Area:
Two
Appearance:
(Lucas Till)
By all means, Aidan is a typical guy hailing from the second district. With hazel colored eyes, a youthful face, and close-cut blonde hair, his face does not match the standard, rugged, older look of a typical tribute from Two. In this way, the young man takes after his mother's side of the family, instead inheriting a set of looks that caused the eighteen year old to be mistaken for much younger than he actually was, a trait that has mostly disappeared by the present day.
Standing at five feet and ten inches, Aidan is of average height. Sporting a muscular build from his job as an apprentice stonemason and the local academies in his district, the eighteen year old packs quite a bit of power behind his punch. Enough, in fact, that if it wasn't for his disability, he might be one of the frontrunners for representing his district in this year's annual Hunger Games. Alas, a tragic childhood accident ended up giving Aidan unilateral deafness in his right ear, causing both his social skills and overall respect to diminish significantly.
Personality:
In part because of his partial deafness, Aidan's social skills are subpar at best, leaving him with a sort of social awkwardness. After all, when it is difficult to understand someone every time they speak, anyone's willingness to engage in social interactions drops. As such, Aidan is pretty much a lone wolf, with no real close friends or significant others to boast of.
On the inside, Aidan is actually a rather sweet and lovable kind of guy, a trait rather surprising from someone living in Two. Maybe it was his disability preventing any of the training personnel from installing the traditional bloodthirst of Two into him, maybe it was him not believing in the eye-for-an-eye philosophy, or maybe, it was just who he was as a person. Whatever the case, the few that have gotten to know him have said that, without a doubt, Aidan Reid is the nicest person in all of District Two.
One should not mistake his kindness for weakness, however, unless they wish to receive a nasty surprise. For, it is said that once Aidan puts his mind to something, he is virtually unstoppable. The eighteen year old's level of determination and perseverance is a double edged sword, in a sense; while this has helped him get through many difficult training sessions and similar tasks, it has also drove him to near death at times. As Aidan is determined to prove that his disability is not a weakness, he often overworks himself in training exercises, most of which have nothing to do with his hearing. His tendency to go after the most powerful of a group in sparring exercises has also resulted in some nasty injuries at times, though none quite as severe as his deafness.
History:
The only child of a pair of stonemasons, Aidan lived a fairly average, comfortable life. His family was neither rich nor poor, residing in the district equivalent of the middle class. His early childhood was a pleasant one, as he spent most of his time being cared for by his stay-at-home mother, a kind but stern woman. As he lived in a rather heavily populated part of his district, he made friends with several local children even before his school days, spending most of his mornings frolicking with said children.
It was on one of these mornings that his fateful accident took place. What had started out as an innocent game of sparring with toy swords and sticks had quickly escalated, as a duel between two older kids had turned into a brawl, which in turn had turned into something not unlike a gang rumble. Insults were hurled around like candy, blows were exchanged, and all thoughts of fun and games were abandoned.
Finally, one older kid, eager to make her mark in the fight, had grabbed a brick from the front porch of some random stonemason's porch, and had hurled it into the melee. Only, the brick had missed the mob of fighting kids entirely, and had instead struck a young, spectating Aidan in the right ear with enough force to rupture the eardrum and fracture his skull. Aidan eventually recovered from the injury, but at the cost of the use of his ear, leaving a mark that would affect him up to the current day.
