The Crocetti family thrives in the shadows of District Two. They live, for the most part, without their father, and are consequently left under the care of their oldest brother, Rodrigo. The Crocettis can often be found tangled up in the most twisted and revolting crimes of the district, though their family name tends to prevent them from ever being caught. They have been accused of simony, murder, bribery, incest, and adultery, and under their reign District Two has seen demoralization unprecedented in its history. The entire family is dead set on clawing their way to power by any means possible, and should any one of them achieve it, they will all rise.

They are Crocetti. They are one.

The Crocettis are a family based on the Borgias, a family that seized power through the church during the Italian renaissance. They were well known for their corruption and scandal. All characters in this plot are based on either a Borgia or a person in history who was associated with them. I totally suggest checking out the person on whom your desired character is based, I find all of these historical figures to be completely fascinating.

Applications will be looked over as they come in, so I highly recommend getting your in sooner rather than later in order to have a better chance at getting the character you want. Please note that I’m totally open to genderswapping as long as the characters remain fairly varied as a whole (meaning if everyone’s trying to swap to female I will probably be less willing xD). rodrigo borgia / 21 / the manipulator [open] - Rodrigo is the head of the family, both poisoning it and holding it together. With their father unable to spend much time with them, he has stepped in as a “father figure” and is determined to find power for his family by any means necessary. Though he often uses his siblings as political and social pawns, he cares about them more than anyone else in the world. Toward them he is at least a little bit lenient - toward others he is manipulative, stubborn, cold, and oftentimes wicked in order to get his way. Rodrigo has proven on more than one occasion that his determination can lead him to do terrible things, and as a result he is both respected and feared by some of the most wealthy and notorious families in District One. Well educated and dead clever, he hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a high ranking Peacekeeper. Having seen his father’s success with romantic affairs, he doesn’t fear having relations with women as others vying for such a position would. In fact, he’s a notorious ladies man, with a particular interest in Vanozza dei Cattanei.

giovanni borgia / 19 / the favorite son [open] - Giovanni, as the second eldest, is often loaded with Rodrigo’s high expectations. When he was younger he would train constantly to be in the Games - if Rodrigo were to lose a precious family member to the Reaping, he expected nothing less than for that member to bring home riches and glory as a Victor - but now that he’s too old he spends most of his time trying to intimidate enemies of the family and entice allies. He accomplishes this for the most part, but is sometimes made a fool of when his younger brother, Cesare, is able to do it better. Regardless, Giovanni remains the “favorite” of the family which Rodrigo expresses to him often. He is granted nearly anything he desires, is presented with the women of families Rodrigo is most hopeful to have ties with, and often has lavish parties thrown in his honor. Cultured, intelligent, and extremely arrogant, he more than fits the description of a Borgia.

cesare borgia / 17 / the ruthless fighter [avalon] (genderswap!) - Cesare had always excelled in his Career training, proving to be better than even his two older brothers. Violent and with short temper, he is feared by almost anyone he crosses paths with. Despite this, Rodrigo encourages Cesare to spend his time finding a high ranking wife rather than hunting down enemies, since it is Giovanni who stands to inherit the family name when Rodrigo leaves to become a Peacekeeper. As a result, Cesare is deeply jealous of Giovanni, a fact which he doesn’t hide. Despite Rodrigo’s wishes to keep Cesare focused on advancing the family through a well chosen marriage, the eldest son still occasionally uses Cesare to “dispose of” or “threaten” a particular enemy. His violence isn’t limited to that ordered by his brother, however. Oftentimes Cesare’s temper leads him to street fights, and he is especially well known for his attacks on men who he believes have been cruel to his twin sister, Lucrezia, who he is fiercely protective of.

lucrezia borgia / 17 / the political pawn [belladona crocetti, stare] - Sophisticated, well-mannered, and beautiful, Lucrezia is the Borgia princess. Unlike her siblings, she is better known for her grace and attractive appearance than for any notorious acts she’s committed. Rodrigo made certain that she received the best education as a child and avoided Career training for fear of injury. Instead of an intimidation, he prefers to use her as a temptation, encouraging her to spend time with different young men from families he hopes to form ties with (especially Alfonso of Aragon). Despite the fact that these men are sometimes more forward and aggressive than she’d like, she agrees in order to please Rodrigo and do what’s best for the family. Despite her innocent appearance, Lucrezia does not lack the manipulative traits of her siblings and uses them to her advantage when trying to win a man’s favour. However, she isn’t nearly as violent or aggressive as her twin, Cesare, instead preferring to use her intellect to lure a person into doing what she wants.

gioffre borgia / 15 / the black sheep [open] - As the youngest son, Gioffre has to try very hard to be noticed by Rodrigo. Despite the fact that he excels in his Career training, he is often overlooked and seen only for his use as a political tie. Though he longs to be more like his older brothers and fight for his family, Rodrigo is strict on Gioffre avoiding violent conflict at all costs. For now, Gioffre seems to obey. Secretly, however, he is fuming inside. When mysterious attacks happen in the middle of the night it is Cesare who is blamed, and because of his nature no one believes him when he tries to deny it. No one even suspects Gioffre. No one even glances his way. So perhaps it is an advantage to be invisible for the time being. When the time comes, Gioffre will prove himself, one way or another.

sancia of aragon* / 17 / the scandal [open] - The illegitimate daughter of one of the wealthiest men in District One, Sancia enjoys wealth and comfort in a home that she shares with her brother. Beautiful, clever, and somewhat adventurous, her father often scolds her for behaving “improperly”. As a result she’s come to hate the idea of propriety deeply, and does everything she can to defy it, including sleeping around with men her father would most definitely disapprove of. It’s a well known fact that Rodrigo has an eye on her for one of his sons. He first hoped to develop a relationship between her and Giovanni, but he refused because of Sancia’s status as an illegitimate daughter and her bad reputation. It is now believed that, when the time comes, a marriage will be proposed between Sancia and Gioffre. Even more than the idea of being tied down by a husband, she hates the idea of marrying the youngest Borgia son. Instead, she’s set her sight on the elder three, and has caused a great deal of conflict between them. In the meantime, she’s developed a deep friendship with Lucrezia.

alfonso of aragon* / 18 / the political tie [open] - Sancia’s brother, Alfonso, is also an illegitimate child. Despite having enjoyed wealth most of his life, he is keenly aware of how delicate his situation is. As a result, Alfonso has developed the ability to socially navigate better than most. Charismatic, clever, and fast on his feet, he’s determined to secure himself power before his father dies and he’s left with nothing. He deeply disapproves of Sancia’s behavior, often trying to remind her how quickly their luck could run out, but over the years has found that the argument is useless. Instead he is simply grateful that Rodrigo has such deep interest in her. He’s managed to make himself a potential target for marriage, as well, spending a great deal of time with Lucrezia. He’s the only man she struggles to manipulate, and as a result they’ve developed a mutual respect for each other - something that perhaps even borders on friendship.

vanozza dei cattanei* / 19 / the mistress [open] - Though she was not born a Borgia and probably will never be one, she’s just as cunning and manipulative as Rodrigo himself. While she certainly wasn’t born poor, Vanozza’s family is not nearly as wealthy as the Borgias, and she’s desperate to claw her way to wealth and power by any means necessary. Perhaps some part of her does have true feelings for Rodrigo, but another part is simply recognizing him as the key to everything she ever wanted. Rodrigo can’t marry and she knows that, but she also knows that there’s something to be said for becoming his favorite. However, Vanozza has never been known for her loyalty - as much as she wants to benefit from a special relationship to the Borgias, she’d be just as willing to betray them if a better offer came along.
