~*~Lightning O'Hana ~*~
The early morning mists were stretching their arms slowly over the district from the sea. An early morning gull called out across the nearly silent district as not even a single creature was stirring, not even a mouse. However, that was until about six in when I ever so quietly slipped from beneath the sheets of my bed and out of the house. Morning laid chills over my body as I quickly made my way into the District Square. Just as I had planned not a single light was shinning in any of the shops except for one in which I promised to pick up my orders at this time. Thoughts of excitement and of the holidays ran rampant inside my mind as I drew ever closer to the shop. Memories bubbled up through my walk as well as I could already begin to imagine the elation that would roll off of each of my siblings faces.
Through thick and thin we had always stuck together, even against the harshness our parents often spewed in our directions. Through hell and back we all managed to grow stronger and closer together. Over time we learned that the most important thing in our lives was family. Over time I pushed myself to become the best career I could to protect them, even if Chaos still views me as her little brother. Over time all things change including the young blonde haired little brothers you wish you can protect. I know eventually she will accept my transformation, but for now I was well aware of how indifferent she was to the thought of it. It isn't that I don't like Chaos' excessive care and kindness I just feel she doesn't know just how much I have grown. To her I am just a little boy faced with a cruel world, but in the truth I am a young man faced with a cruel world, a difference I know will come to light shorty. Yet for now I have maintain my focus on the task at hand.
As the warmth of the shop greeted me with its arms extended I walked calmly up to the man smiling behind the register. After several moments all the things I had ordered were paid for and hidden safely within my back pack. Although times were harsh for the family we all made sure to save as much as we could for these holidays. It was our way of showing that no matter what the trouble we will always provide things for one another. Whether they were gifts such as these were or the support of a true sibling.
Across the district the beating rays of the morning sun were just starting to leak through the misty veil as I left the Square. In the distance I could hear the faint sounds of several families stirring mixed with the simple ebb of the ocean's waves. Everything was so peaceful and it almost made life seem normal in a world ruled by a Dictator, but then again I knew I was much luckier than those in the lower districts. Still, I couldn't help but wonder what life without Snow could be like. A world where children didn't live in fear of the Reaping and families lived out average lives. Surely poverty would remain but I could help but wonder if people would be happier. I know I sure as hell would even if I did love career training. I would much rather live in a place where the Capitol couldn't get its reaches on any of us. Then again these thoughts have been circulating in my head for quite some time now and I was really tempted to bring up the subject of running to Chaos. I knew if I got her help we could get the whole family beyond the fence where at least our odds were better than in the games...
A far off train whistle pulled me from my thoughts just as a spotted a dim candle light flickering within the window of Chaos' room. Just like me she always made sure to wake early on this day in order to finish all her needed preparations. Lucky for me though I had gotten her gift before she awoke instead of having her ruin the surprise like she always does. I will never understand that aspect of her, she loves surprises yet hates them at the same time. Then again when did a person ever like feeling they were missing information?
Shrugging off my final thoughts I silently made my way back inside and straight to Chaos' room which I naturally entered without knocking. Just as I did this morning I know Chaos always ensures to hide my gift well away from my craving eyes.
"Morning." I said in very timid whisper. "I see I finally beat you awake for once, oh wait I always do considering you sleep half the day away." This time I let a slight smirk pierce my face as I sit next to her gently on the floor. From what I could tell she had just finished wrapping her gifts just like I had the shop owner do for me. For once we actually seemed to be functioning like normal human beings at seven in the morning. Which for us is one hell of an accomplishment.
OOC: I promise the next one will be shorter xD
