They're kings and queens, I know, I'm nothing like them, with a kingdom made of clouds and I, the cloud king, sometimes I question why they keep me around as well. They're not my family, and I'm not their family - I had parents once, I think, with pale skin and blonde hair and I like to think they were dreamers like me, and I take polaroids of couples I think could be them, because sometime I'll find them. And (I know,) I know, trust me I know, that my parents aren't like the people around me; they all want crowns on their head made of gold and that seems so dangerous when you can just make your own out of paper.

It's not that hard, really.

And I know, truthfully, that stringing fairy lights like veins won't make you feel more alive, but it's breaking the dark is better than trading your arms for swords and- I can't do it. I'm squeamish with blood and it seems like I'm the only one who wants to keep it in their skin, and I know, (I know,) that I'll never be like them, and maybe one day that and my crooked teeth will be good enough and-

("I know,") that it won't be.
