Appearance: 6"0', well muscled. Extremely strong from a lifetime of forestry. He has Brown hair, speckled with grey, and Brown eyes. He has a deep tan on his face and arms, a prominent jaw, well defined cheekbones, and sharp, small eyes. His hair is slightly curly, and he has a mustache that's also speckled with grey.
His tongue was cut out when he became an Avox. He has many scars, the newest from being punished often. Whip lashes on his back that are barely healed. Scars from splinters on his arms and hands. On his left eyebrow is a small scar from the fight after he was arrested.

Personality: Richard is almost always angry. He is like a fire, destructive and uncaring, and he can be caged in but never tamed. He is abusive and mean. When he had his tongue, his words were always harsh and criticizing. He cursed often. Eventually even words weren't enough to satiate his anger. He loved to widdle and carve all his life. It was his respite. His mind set is get much a victim. He believes the world owes him. 
He was a pretty good talker when He wanted to be. He had friends, and was well liked. His friends always said they couldn't believe He was a bad person. Kind of a typical abuser persona.
He often abuses other Avoxes because he knows they can't tell anyone and that don't matter. He is spiteful to the people He serves. He ruins food, makes them sick, causes accidents by messing up small but imprtant parts of things like doors and chairs. He believes the world owes him.
He saw a lot of himself in his daughter and hated it. He hates her. He hates the government. He believes they are at fault for him becoming and Avox. Rihard strongly distrusts anyone and everyone in the government. Working as an Avox makes him angrier by the day.

History: Richard's father, August, died in an accident while chopping lumber a few months before Richard's birth. His mother died after labor, of infection. Richard was adopted by his grandfather on his mothers side. His name was Aspen Burch. Aspen was highly paranoid and abusive to Richard. He taught Richard to distrust the government. He believed that Richard's father's death had not been an accident. He believed he was being watched by the government and he was probably right.
