we don't rely
on electricity
don't need the light on
we are the energy

don't need the light on
we are the energy
Art had never been a blatant passion in her life, but over time it had subtly woven itself into her existence. A man in a white coat with a distracted disposition that led him to always be wearing two pairs of glasses (one up on his forehead, one down on his nose) had once suggested that she try painting. He'd said something about it being soothing. In the beginning she'd found plenty of ways to paint, silver cans clutched in her palms as she turned brick walls into a maze of neon greens and blues the color of the sky just after sunset. Later, after her younger sister had calmed the storm within her, she'd found a quiet satisfaction in the stroke of watercolor on the pages of her fairytales.
And then she'd found it here, in the form of a boy with guarded half-smirks that resembled hers just a bit too much for comfort.
It had started as a ghost of an idea, a phantom thought that wouldn't be ignored. She was sure that the avoxes heard all kinds of strange requests as the first day of the Games drew closer, tributes feeling their mortality grow inside of them like a weed, but her own still managed to raise eyebrows. Still the girl left and returned with paintbrushes, spray cans, and acrylics, all of which Danny held cluttered in her arms as she roamed the darkened hallways until she found the right door.
It was late, she was unannounced, and they'd barely spoken to each other, but she knocked on his door anyway in the hopes that the temptation of the paint would be enough. When the door opened she managed a flickering smile, not nearly as crooked as usual without the thrill of alcohol running through her veins. She lifted the paints like an offering. "Want to cause some trouble?"
we are golden, yes we are
hear the thunder, see the stars
we are golden for all to see
we are golden believe, believe
hear the thunder, see the stars
we are golden for all to see
we are golden believe, believe
