Age: 15
Gender: Female
District: 7 (lumber)
Appearance: Savannah has been very muscular from the cradle-- standing 5'3 and weighing about 140 pounds. She's a bit flat-chested and considers herself curvy in all the wrong places. Usually, she goes barefoot-- her feet are tough and used to picking their way swiftly through things like rocks and twigs. Her hands are calloused too, the better to swing an ax without getting a splinter. She wears an old black hoodie and worn out dirty jeans.
She has beady, dark brown eyes which she personally finds unattractive, and that watch you from behind strands of thick red hair that have escaped the messy bun she puts it in. If it weren't for her constantly roving eyes, she would seem completely indifferent to her surroundings because of the complete lack of expression on her face. She has a sort of boyish way of holding herself, and from a distance, she looks like a man.
Personality: To most, she seems very down to earth-- she's a hard worker and scorns openly at love and beauty. In reality, however, she can be just as superficial as the next girl, but is extremely reserved about it since there's a part of her that thinks she's ugly. She can be a little blunt sometimes, seeing as her level of empathy is not exactly that high, which makes it difficult for her to bond with others. However, given time, she can reveal the other side of her nature-- which is a very clingy but fiercely loyal friend.
While she's with others she appears a bit mundane, but when she's by herself with the trees she's a completely different person. No one who knows her would guess that, if left alone while she works, she talks to the trees, apologizing for ending their lives and sometimes even singing to them (she has a terrible singing voice). A part of her believes that the trees have spirits and understand her-- she actually loses sleep wondering if the trees are actually people and that every time she chops a tree she's ending a life.
Savannah is a pessimist, though she considers herself a realist. Perhaps the reason why she's so lonely is because she tends to bring people down with her dark thoughts, never allowing her other more childlike side to surface. A person's first impression on meeting her would probably be to wonder if she ever smiles.
History: Though not exactly rich, Savannah's family is one of the more fortunate ones of district seven. Her mother died a few weeks after her birth, but she has three teasing older brothers and a father who work hard for their family. Because everyone in her family is hard working and able-bodied, Savannah very rarely goes hungry, and if she'd wanted to she could've gone on to become something more than just another lumberjack.
Growing up, Savannah might have been completely rejected by other children out of envy for her family's 'middle class' status, except for the smudge on her otherwise mostly happy life. She used to have four brothers-- but one of them was forced into the Hunger Games. His name was Paul, and he was only a year older than Savannah. It was his second reaping-- only thirteen years old with a little sister waiting for him at home-- he was one of the first to die. It was his death that ignited the first spark of frustration inside of Savannah, and part of the reason why she sometimes has fantasies of bombing the capitol.
When she was younger, Savannah's brothers used to enjoy making up stories to tell her and Paul-- stories about a prince and his flying horse who would bomb the capitol and end the Hunger games once and for all. They would always warn her to never repeat the stories to anyone else -- in case a peacekeeper heard her and they got in serious trouble. So she wrote the stories down. Her brothers gave up telling her stories after Paul died, but from time to time Savannah takes out her book of stories and adds another one-- it's not that she thinks she could take down the capitol with fairy tales, but losing herself in writing helps her to cope with life.
