Tired, it was the best way to describe how Tessa was feeling as she headed her way back through the square after a very long day. Her mother hadn't been feeling well at all, so Jonathan had tried to help her. As much as she loved her younger brother, he was so easily distracted that it was pretty much Tessa trying to catch fish by herself most of the morning, then she had career training after that and it was just over all, a very exhausting day. She had managed to go home for a bit and get cleaned up and changed. She headed back to the square, she had to pick up a few things for the family, bread and that kind of thing. She heard a scuffle a little ways down the lane and chose to ignore it. Peacekeepers were running that way and she knew that when they were involved it was best that she stay out of the way.
Peacekeepers had always been the bane of her existence. She had once witnessed two of them beat an old man into a bloody pulp just because he accidently ran into one of them knocking them to the ground, it was nothing serious at all, but the Peacekeeper had gotten all butt hurt about it in embarassment, and had taken it out on the older man. It wasn't fair, and Tessa had had to hold her tongue to keep from yelling at them about it. Living in their district wasn't near as bad as it was in other districts. They had plenty of food, some wealth, it wasn't horrible at all compared to the others. Maybe that was why their were more victors in four than there were in a lot of the others. Tessa however, still had days when she wouldn't eat much, mainly because she was always more concerened with Jonathan. Her little brother would never go hungry as far as Tessa was concerned.
She was done shopping and had everything in her bags, she was walking back towards her home down one of the alleys when she heard footsteps running up behind her. Tessa didn't even have time to react when she was slammed into by someone. Peacekeepers were yelling down the lane and she slipped on the walkway, falling forward, bracing her fall with both hands, feeling the stones cut them open. She hissed in pain, the bags having fallen to the ground, spilling their contents. She let out an exasperated sigh as the peacekeepers ran past the ally. Her bright blue eyes lifted as she pushed her golden blonde hair out of her eyes and looked up at the guy who had slammed into her at ninety to nothing. " Are you blind or just irritating?" she sat on her butt and looked down at her bleeding palms. " ouch..."
