Yer a wizard, 'arry
Deep in the midst of the forest, beyond the Districts and the Captiol, beyond all reaches of Panem, live a group of wizards.
(Well, okay, they're not wizards, but they think they are and that's what matters.)
Functioning as their own civilization, they used their magical abilities to reconstruct the broken down fort that they live in to create a wonderful castle that became the school for the new witches and wizards being born every year.
(It still looks like a broken down fort, but at least the roof has been patched.)
Shortly before completion of the school, a terrible wizard namedVoldemort He who must not be named! attempted to destroy the fort and bring rise to his own wave of wizards called Deatheaters. Albus Dumbledore, main overseer of the project and elected headmaster of the soon-to-be school, was the one person who was able to stand in Vol- He who must not be named's way. After being thwarted time and again, He who must not be named eventually settled on killing the most promising child of each year in order to prevent another person of Dumbledore's power from coming around.
(Like, this guy is serious bad news. Plus he's insane, which doesn't help.)
He was successful for nearly five years, often killing more than one child as well as the child's parents. His terrible and bloody rein spread as more people began to follow him for the sake of their children. This continued until he tried to kill in the sixth year of his gruesome tradition. His mark for the year had been a baby boy by the name of Harry Potter, born to Lily and James Potter. Harry's parents defended him with their lives, first his father James - aiming to protect his wife and son - was slain by a vicious blow from He who must not be named, but not before causing a good number of wounds to He who must not be named. Lily, knowing her husband was dead and her child would be too if she didn't do something, denied He who must not be named from so much as seeing Harry. In the end, she too sacrificed herself for her son.
Alone and defenseless, the little boy would have been no match for He who must not be named. However, the amount of damage James and then Lily had imparted on the terrible man had been grievous. By this point, He who must not be named was stumbling from bloodloss and fatigue. When he fell before reaching the crib, he knew he would not be able to kill this boy. Still, he tried. Standing once again, he attempted to stab a knife into Harry's forehead. Fortunately for the baby, the strength once again left He who must not be named and the knife only managed a deep, oddly shaped gash in the center of the boy's forehead. Knowing he was defeated, He who must not be named fled the scene before help could arrive. Harry, found by neighbors to be bleeding but mostly alright, was whisked away by a very large man.
Our story starts ten years after the apparent defeat of He who must not be named by a little boy. Harry, now almost eleven, lives with a terrible aunt and uncle who do not believe in magic - despite most of the population believing in it. With their son being a menace, Harry wants nothing more than to escape.
