A MURDERER! A BETRAYER! A FAMILY DESTROYER! A VICTOR! Kirito's body shook violently as spasms laid waste to his muscles. Screams ripped through his throat like Sue's bullets had ripped through his vest. Blood flowed in rivers from his mouth as he flipped and folded entirely unnaturally. Sirens wailed above the storm in Kirito's mind as the world shuddered and shattered. Restraints pierced Kirito's wrists while monstrous laughs ripened the air alongside his tormented screeches. Only one thought. Only one idea laid plastered firmly inside his mutilated mind. Somebody please kill me. Too bad wishes never come true in Panem.
Unknown faces danced through blinding bright lights as their unknown voices faded in and out of reach. Time no longer existed, no longer mattered and so Kirito let his body fall back into unconsciousness. There was and only ever has been two things which govern the living. Light and Dark. However, only one of them is actually real. Those who believe they are following the path to light are merely oblivious to the darkness they carry within them. This was the truth Kirito learned when his hands first felt the touch of another's blood against their palms. Blood he had stolen with a slash or a stab of his blade. Blood he had chosen to spill in order to preserve his own. Blood he had stopped from flowing within another in order to stay alive. It was this cursed blood that gave birth to the the physical form of Kirito's darkness for the first time. Brought Kiri blood thirsty and weapons ready into an arena designed for his devastation. Yet Kirito was foolish in believing that after his games had ended that he actually could contain Kiri. All it took was Iain's demise for Kiri's cell to break and now it was an all out fight for control. Nothing else mattered any longer. Kirito was fighting his second psychotic war and just as before he was standing alone on the battlefield. His body was breaking and his life was falling while the world around him toiled on drowning in President Snow's poison. Kirito had no support all he had was himself, all he ever had was himself.
No, Kirito desperately thought to himself through the sheer madness which plagued his existence. Through the brutal battlefield and through the blood crying clouds Kirito could see the faces of those he knew would help him. He could see Rhyme reaching her hand out to him as her hair was highlighted by the brilliance of angelic wings. He could see Circe shaking her head ready to smack the boy who had lived on while she could not. A boy she believed was capable of a powerful roar due to their shared secret. He could see Ikaia, although tarnished by time and resistant to ever wanting to help cheering him on from Eleven. He could see Navya sweetly smiling in a way only she knew would make him feel better. He could even see Harbinger ready to hoist him up from the beaten soil. Yet above all, Kirito could see Katelyn ready to stand by him and comfort him all the same, just as she had done two years earlier. Kirito knew he wasn't alone but for the moment he knew it didn't matter. He was alone for now, and the only thing he could see was Kiri with he teeth glinting while his blood stained knife flicked through his fingers.
"You wanna know somethin' Kirito?" Kiri called from his spot directly across their field of battle. "No one mourns the Wicked, and believe me when I say if people didn't believe so already before tonight you are if nothing else Wicked. You are me and I am you, now why don't you just let Kirito die while I am born once again into your world? No one will mourn you so you might as well let them fear you."
Kirito felt his stomach lurch at the words Kiri had spoken. Every part of Kirito wanted to scream back retaliation but he couldn't. Kirito wasn't sure if Kiri was wrong. Kirito wasn't sure if he were to die if anyone really would care... No, Kirito knew Katelyn, Harbinger, and countless others would care. They would be sad and they would be in pain, and if there was one thing Kirito still had left that was worth fighting for it was his biggest belief. He would do anything and everything it took to keep people from pain. So with a voice rising he let his words ring through the dark world of his mind so that every once of his battling body would know he would not give in. "I failed Rhyme! I failed Olivia! I failed Imp! I failed Circe! I failed Key! I failed Annora! I failed Carrita! And I failed Iain! But if I give in now I fail everyone! I hurt everyone! So you can try and tear me from this body but I guarantee you its not going to happen!"
For a moment only the sound of the normal cries that filled the field played through the air, but soon Kiri's laughter crescendoed as loudly as Kirito had ever heard. "Fine then Kirito!" He cried hysterically filled with laughter "Then this means war! Except this time, I will be the one who leaves the arena alive!"
Suddenly Kirito felt the battlefield around him explode as light returned to his vision and a new scene formed as he awoke from the horrors of his mind. The ever familiar sound of a heart monitor beeped off to Kirito's side as the room around him laid entirely covered in white tile. Letting out a shaky sigh Kirito noticed the doctors had removed the restraints he ordered them to initially place on his wrists. Which were now clearly scraped from where his convulsing body caused his skin to tear against the plastic. Aside from this Kirito's body felt entirely powerless as he was certain medication was flowing in his blood. Out of no where a violent convulsion erupted from Kirito's weakened body as Kiri hissed in annoyance. Kirito's teeth grinded together as the convulsion worked its way through its vicious cycle. Finally once "peace" returned to Kirito's physical body he raised his head slightly to look at the door across from his bed. Outside a commotion seemed to be growing in volume and from what he could tell it was a visitor looking to see him even though he demanded he have none.
A pit formed in Kirito's stomach as he feared the news of what had occurred on the day of Iain's death had spread. Already so much guilt filled his body while Kiri's disgusting excitement filled his veins as well. However, Kirito had little time to think of the incident before the one person he should have expected to find where he was came bursting through the door and past the doctor. Katelyn. Kirito felt his nails digging deep into the bed's sheets as he forced himself to stop another set of Kiri's defiant spasms. Pain flared through Kirito's resisting body but he did his best to maintain a straight face and calm voice as he looked to the doctor. "Let her in, when she has her mind set on something no one in Panem can stop her."
