Cherry Grace
I need a day to calm down, and just relax. A day without any fights, drama ,or mutations. That's kind of hard to have in the arena, but I will attempt to do so. My mind has been through a lot, being the only one of my alliance left. There was four people dead on day one, another five on day two, plus Nachele's cannon fired today, so that makes ten deaths. I have witnessed half of the deaths in the arena, five out of the ten. First Paperos, then Hilderics, Kales and Suls came next, and finally Nachele. Thirteen others need to die before I win. I need to get my mind off of death. One of my hobbies from District Five was climbing trees. What better place to do so than this island its self?
I walk in the jungle searching for a the tallest tree, luckily I don't run into Carex or Daniel. Right in front of me is a huge tree that's stands above all the others. Wrapping my body around the tree I inch my self up. Once I reach the first branch I move at a faster and faster pace. My hair gets in my face as I swing from branch to branch. I've always tied it in a pony tail, but I guess I can't do so in the arena. I must look different back home to my dad. What would it be like to have your own daughter unexpectedly volunteer for the games? Poor dad, I need to make it back home to him. I'm getting sweaty really fast, it is the hottest weather I have ever experienced in my life. How much longer can I last without water? My throught burns when I swallow, and even my tongue is dry. I need to put these thought aside and just keep climbing.
The branches are getting smaller and skinnier, that's a sign that I'm almost at the top. By now I am about 75 feet into the air, after about ten more feet I will be at the top. As a reach for the next Branch it breaks, if I'm not holding on to anything I will fall. Panicking, I grasp for the next branch. If it breaks I will die, if not than I'm safe. After holding on for several seconds, I assume it's safe. The branch that broke proved that I can't put my weight on these branches anymore, they are too small. I will have to inch my way to the top. I am a very determined person, and I won't be satisfied until I reach the top. My head peers out of the very last leaves. I did it, I reached my goal!
The view is astounding, when I first started the games their was the center island and eleven islands surrounding it. The center island is gone, and I only count nine others. The capitol must be sinking the islands, one for every anthem. In a matter of time the island I will be on will sink! I am not a skilled swimmer, luckily I have the life vest though. The cameras must be on me, me being around 100 feet high in a tree. I smile and wave, hopefully my dad sees this. "Hi dad, I love you. And um I would like to say hi to Charity . See you soon, Cherry" Charity is a girl around my age from District Five, one of my close friends. I sit up here watching the islands for some time, I don't want to come down.
