Thomas Bastien Bluth
Twelve ◆ Male ◆ District 4
APPEARANCE:
Along with his younger brother, Bryce, Thomas is a redhead. He has short and thick ginger hair with a bit of curl, making him stand out quite a bit in a crowd. He has a long and narrow nose (no curve!) sprinkled with freckles and an oval face. His eyes resembles his sisters (Agnes) eyes quite a bit, except dark brown instead. He, too, is pale but seems to tan nicely in the sun, despite the hair. Thomas being just a child, his facial features are still not that sharp, but instead rounded though the oncoming adolescent has made his face a bit longer and more mature-looking than a few years ago.

For his age, Thomas is a bit taller than average and head-to-head with his older sister (167 cm or 5‘5¾). Had he not worked alongside his parents, he would probably have been a bit lanky, but working by the harbor has given him some arm muscles despite his young age. His hands are also rough and hardened from use. He does not have as many freckles as his siblings and generally does not look as much like the others (who are very clearly brother and sister), as he takes after mom instead of dad.
Thomas usually wears something of a more practical and crafty material, consisting of a button-down and pants.
PERSONALITY:
Thomas is the quietest of the bunch. While not being a complete introvert, he is definitely more reserved than his charismatic and outgoing family. He works with the family when asked, but personally prefers schoolwork and reading compared to a day on the sea. Despite being more withdrawn, Thomas still is a very well-behaved boy and does not have trouble socializing – he just prefers not to.

Thomas is a bright young man. He tends to be more serious and thinks a lot before acting, wanting to be mature (though still messing up as twelve-year-olds do sometimes). He enjoys his fun-loving family, but is never one to initiate mischievous behavior and could be seen as the ‘black sheep’ of the family. It can, sometimes, be a bit lonely being him.
Having reached the tender age of twelve, Thomas is starting to want to free himself and become more independent. Though not outwardly seeking adventure and rite-of-passage experiences, he does take more things upon himself than when he was younger. He very much wants to make his sister proud and his younger brother in awe of him; for the Bluth’s, family is a vital thing with great importance for them all.
Everyone thinks about the Hunger Games (Thomas, especially, has laid awake in bed at night, thinking). He believes that, someday, he might be able to win. Sometimes he thinks about what it would be like to volunteer. He would like the glory. And it’s not that hard killing people, right? If you have to? But for now, better not. Because realistically, he’s aware that despite being muscular for his age and one of the smarter kids in his year, there are still older people that are smarter and stronger than him. He’d have to train for years. Even then, he’d prefer to be chosen in the end; it all loses some of its glamour when volunteering (people doesn’t have to know that he actually wants to be in the games) and he doubts Agnes would ever forgive him. He’d want a small alliance, but not grow too close to anyone. We all know where it ends, anyway. Maybe someday.
Generally, he seems to think more with his head than with his heart. And while being logical can be a good thing, you have to remember that you’re still only human and will react strongly to some things even if you don’t think so.
HISTORY:
Thomas grew up as the middle child in a happy family. Sure, in the later years, mom and dad hadn’t been around much but Agnes had taken care of them instead and it wasn’t like their parents had abandoned them. They just worked a lot and tried bringing the kids along as often as possible. He loves his parents.

As mentioned before, Thomas does seem to be the black sheep of the family. Agnes and Bryce both sharing a very bubbly personality, Thomas sometimes had felt a bit alone. But all in all, he’d had a nice family life with nothing extraordinary happening. He’d lived a comfortable life up until now (just passing the border of middleclass to upper class), not too rich but having enough to splurge every so often.
Life in District 4 isn’t so bad for the Bluths.
