Name:Toby Russo
Age: almost 17
Gender: male
District/Area: four
Appearance:
Toby is very refined. His clothes are always custom made and ironed, his thick brown curls are always greased so that they lie flat on his head. Most people don't even know that his hair is curly, as it's always slicked back. It's not that he's obsessed with looking presentable, he does his morning routine more out of force of habit than anything.
Toby's not especially tall or muscular-- he's 5'7 and weighs about 140 pounds. He's never been one for physical activity, preferring more to hang inside studying things outside of school. He has light dusky skin, which makes him stand out like a ghost amidst his family. He has a long face with hazel monolid eyes, a hooked nose, and a deep cleft chin.
Personality:
Toby is extremely loyal-- he would never believe a rumor about a friend regardless of how much evidence there is to support the rumor. His loyalty can also be annoying, though, as he takes any friendship he has very seriously and considers it his duty to inform a friend if he thinks they're doing something inadvisable. This is how he has lost quite a few of his friends, but this has never stopped Toby from being honest, as integrity is his middle name.
Toby holds a grudge just as strongly as he holds a relationship-- though not as openly. Once he's made up his mind that someone is a bad person, it is very difficult to make him see them differently. Toby never discriminates against someone based on his opinion of them, though, and most of the people he has a grudge against have no idea about it. Even though he is polite and gets along with those he doesn't like, he is never passive aggressive to them and if he has a problem with something they are doing, he says it straight out.
Toby believes very strongly in justice. If you do something wrong, you face up to it or, in his eyes, you are a terrible person and a coward. He thinks mercy is foolishness because he sees it as being biased. Toby doesn't just hold these standards for other people, though-- he is very conscious of his morals and does his best to follow his values. That said, he is very conscientious and a strong believer in integrity.
History: Toby was abandoned at a hospital and adopted as an infant by the Russo family. The Russos had been expecting twins but one of them miscarried. A few months later they brought their biological son Rudy in for a check up and discovered Toby, who they thought of as a gift from God meant especially for them. Toby celebrates his birthday on the same day as his 'twin' brother Rudy.
Two years after Toby was adopted, the Russos had another baby-- a little girl called Cyra. Toby feels very protective of her and takes his job as a big brother perhaps a little too seriously. He's usually the one to lecture Cyra on wearing less revealing clothes, and also the one who stays up worrying when she's out late. Though his condescending attitude offends her (she's only two years younger than him, after all) she enjoys the feeling that he will always be there for her. He's the one constant, unchanging thing his siblings can count on.
Toby and Rudy both have very clashing personalities, as Toby is very conservative about rules, and Rudy is very rebellious. Toby considers it his duty as a brother to admonish Rudy every time he steps out of line-- not that he gets any pleasure out of it-- it's more of a matter of conscience. Rudy, unlike Toby, gets a kick out of messing around with Toby-- who he considers way too uptight about rules. Though they have long arguments that last for days, they always make up afterwards (with a little intervention from Cyra), which says a lot about the close bond they have formed over the years.
Other: Toby tends to be very eloquent when he speaks because of his large vocabulary. To some people, this trait is charming, but to others it can make him sound stuck up.
