LUMIERE FAMILY PLOT
History:
Legends tell of a pair of twin warriors that fought in the great war during the Dark Days, the greatest to carry the name Lumiere. Natives of District One even then, the two sisters struggled relentlessly against the Capitol, leading rebels across the nation through battle after battle.
As the story goes, the two were masters of combat, and rarely were they on the losing side of an equal battle. But as the war raged on and District Thirteen abandoned the rebel cause, the loyalties of one sister began to waver.
As the war reached its endgame and it was apparent that the districts were going to lose, the sister defected to the Capitol, abandoning her district and her sister to the fate of the Capitol.
Eventually, in one of the last battles of the war, the sisters once again met on the battlefield, but this time as foes. As fate would have it, as the rebels were fleeing and the Capitol was celebrating, the two met face to face. Though both sisters pleaded the other to join their respective cause, it soon became apparent that there would be only one way to solve the conflict.
Their duel raged on for seemingly forever, both twins receiving multiple bruises and gashes in the process, before both collapsed, neither able to get the upper hand. Though the Capitolite forces were eager to claim such an important prisoner, the sister on that side prevented them from taking her into custody, letting her return to the District at the cost of her retiring her life as a warrior.
The rebels were defeated, the Capitol victorious, and the Hunger Games began. The Capitolite sister eventually returned to One after a few years, but the twins never really reconciled before their deaths.
Today, the Lumiere clan is a fairly large Career family residing in One. The names of the sisters have long been forgotten to legend, and only a scant few still remember them. The rebel-aligned sister sired a single daughter in the days before the war, and she in turn kept the Lumiere name alive through to the present day, currently reigning as the clan matriarch. The Capitol-aligned daughter never married, and it was presumed that she had died childless. However, rumors popped up now and then of children who also descended from the name Lumiere, lost family of a dishonored kin.
Summary:
The Lumiere clan is led by the current matriarch, Anastasia, who acts as the authority figure of the family. They are primarily a Career family, typically sending their children to the training facilities as early as possible. Their personality types range from shy recluse to flirty partygoer and everything in between, but they share the name Lumiere regardless as to which parent was descended from the name. They typically have platinum blonde hair (though not all of them do) and bright colored eyes. They gift most of their children with a name beginning with A, as both the twins of legend had a name that began with it. The matriarch's name also starts with that letter, and she, in turn, gave each of her children a name that began with A, a trend that has mostly continued through the current generation of Careers.
Characters and Character slots:
The Matriarch
Anastasia Lumiere 78 years old (reserved for Lancelot, eventually)
The tough, stern, motherly matriarch of the family, Anastasia is one of the District's last living people born before the Dark Days. Trained by her mother as one of the earliest Careers, she nevertheless avoided being selected, or volunteering, for the Games during her period of eligibility. After she passed said period, she went to work as a training instructor at one of the academies, eventually meeting and marrying another co-instructor, with whom she had four children.
At nearly eighty years old, she's lost much of her physical strength and agility, but Anastasia is surprisingly spry and quick-witted for an old woman, remaining a force to be reckoned with among family and strangers alike.
The Siblings
Achilla Lumiere 51 years old (NPC/Open)
The eldest child of Anastasia, a co-manager of a fashion designer company, and mother of six, Achilla is unlike the rest of the family in the fact that she detests Career training and the Games in general. The middle-aged woman takes after her mother in both looks and temperament, though in contests of wills between the two, she often loses.
Ariella Lumiere 47 years old (NPC/Open)
The second child of Anastasia and a die-hard fitness fanatic, Ariella manages one of the many Career academies scattered throughout the district. Loud, brash, and outgoing, she's very blunt and cynical when debating or having conversations, but underneath that is a genuine warmth for her loved ones. She sired a single son, Alexander, whose birthing process nearly killed her and effectively prevented her from having more children.
Ambrose Lumiere 44 years old (NPC/Open)
The only son of Anastasia and an ex-Career, Ambrose is currently working as an assistant manager of a jewelry factory. More quiet and withdrawn than his outspoken sisters, he tends to be more of an observer than a contributor. Like his siblings, he sports the platinum blond hair and bright eyes of the Lumiere name.
Anthea Lumiere 41 years old (NPC/Open)
Co-manager of the same fashion designer company as Achilla and a polar opposite to her older sister, the youngest Lumiere sibling is a cheery, extroverted person. She's an avid supporter of the Games, seeing it as a chance to earn wealth, riches, and glory as opposed to a punishment, and very nearly volunteered for the Games herself during her Reaping days. Now, aside from managing the fashion company and occasionally mentoring at her sister's academy, she enjoys living a quiet life with her husband and kids.
The Careers
Achilla's children
Annika Lumiere 18 years old (Played by Lancelot)
The eldest Lumiere grandchild, Annika is a former beauty pageant child turned Career, after her parents, reluctant to let her anywhere near the Career facilities, relented in the face of her pleas and Anastasia's influence. A quiet, kind young woman, she nonetheless takes her Career training seriously, and as she approaches her final reaping must consider whether or not she wishes to volunteer.

The Disgraced
There have been rumors that the rebel-aligned sister was not the only one to have children, and that the Capitol-aligned sister also sired an heir, one that would carry the name and the Lumiere heritage down a separate line. Though none of Anastasia's children or grandchildren have ever seen one, there are varying stages of belief throughout them that at least one descendant of the traitor twin remains.
