Dragon Jinx
Male
13
District 4
Appearance:
Dragon Jinx has thick blond hair, bleached pale and bright especially in the summer when he spends as much time as he can outside in the sun. His eyes are narrow and deep-set, but blue and bright, and often squinting in confusion. The slight cleft in his chin and his rather large but well shaped nose make him look a little bit older than thirteen. His wide mouth often pull itself into a harshly amused grin, or twists itself into a furious scowl. Before he reached reaping age it was much more common to see a bright, innocently happy grin on his face, but that is much more rare nowadays. His face is very expressive.
He's waiting impatiently for his body to bulk up, but right now he's still very skinny. He wants big biceps and thicker legs and muscles that are actually noticeable and visible, but he doesn't have them yet. He has knobbly knees and elbows, usually scabbed, and he also has plenty of little scars from scratching bug bites too much, dotting his arms and legs. The fact that he's a little bit taller than average just makes him look more gangling. He has plenty of clothes and can barely tell one article of clothing from another, hardly aware of what he wears. He usually ends up with horribly mismatched outfits, but as long as it's comfortable, he won't give it a second thought. He has very big feet and hopes that some day he'll be taller than his older siblings, even.
Personality:
Dragon can be exuberant and wild, running around, laughing the loudest at the least funny things, and teasing and annoying his siblings and anyone else in his vicinity ceaselessly. He can also be sullen and stubborn and tense when he doesn't get what he wants, ready to explode with anger at anyone who just barely provokes him. He breaks a lot of his family's nice things when he gets like this. He switches moods easily.
He's very impatient and restless and has never been able to sit down for long periods of time without blowing up. He hates boundaries and is always pushing himself harder and harder, having no real idea of his own limits. He feels invincible. He wants to be the best.
He's definitely not the brightest of the Jinx kids. He gets confused easily, hates it when things get complicated, and likes things to either be simple and direct, or wildly chaotic. He doesn't get why everyone can't just chill out and be happy and have fun. He especially wants his family to be happy-- he loves his parents, wanting to make them notice him among all of their other children and show that they love him back, and he loves his siblings, even if he also loves to bug them to spice things up when he's bored and will punch them if they bug him enough.
Although it's common to see him punching or whacking or wrestling or bothering his siblings, he's extremely defensive about them, especially Griffin and Serpent, who he's triplets with. If anyone says something rude about them or attempts to hurt them other than himself, he's likely to lash out violently. Regardless of whether Griffin or Serpent want to be protected, Dragon likes to act like the oldest triplet, being bossy and overprotective of the two of them.
Dragon is somewhat in awe of his older siblings because of how successful some of them have been in their training. He boasts loudly about them and how they could easily beat up his classmates' older siblings. The only time he has a problem with them is when they try to reign him in.
Dragon wants everyone to know that he's tough. He's an attention mongering show off. He's a daredevil and has gotten hurt plenty of times climbing on things that weren't meant to be climbed on and picking fights with kids older and bigger than him. He loves the rush of adrenaline and excitement of a challenge.
History:
The Jinx family is huge. Dragon is one of the youngest of the ten siblings. Growing up with so many siblings contributed to his need for attention, because he felt like his parents didn't notice him especially, but at the same time, it contributed to his feeling of entitlement to attention, because when he was little, there was almost always some sibling around to give him what he needed or play with him. He wants to be recognized as himself by his parents and by the rest of the world. He knows that winning the Games will let people know him as more than just one of those Jinx kids, even though he's very proud of being a Jinx. He loves to see the recognition of the name in people's eyes. He also wants to win the Games to make his family happy, to gain the respect and honor for all of them, because he thinks his family deserves even more.
Dragon loves training. He puts his heart and soul into it because of how he longs to win the Games, but also because he genuinely enjoys it. His fighting style is wild and unpredictable and violent, and he hates it when people try to make him concentrate on defense or on technique or on learning details. He just wants to slash stuff with swords.
He hates school as much as he loves training. Almost every day he gets sent out of the classroom for causing disruptions, and he's failing the majority of his classes. He tends to be the class clown. He stopped trying on his schoolwork long ago when he found out how difficult it was for him when everyone else seemed to have no problem with it. He can't stand being inferior, so he makes sure everyone knows he's not really trying at schoolwork and that he doesn't care about it.
Dragon never worried about having friends, being a triplet, but plenty of kids who like to be daredevils or rebels get along with him just fine, maybe even looking up to him. Dragon enjoys getting into trouble most when he's with other people, and on his own, he quickly gets bored.
Unlike some kids he knows, he hasn't even started to think about wanting a girlfriend. He finds the idea of dating complicated and boring and pointless and weird, and hasn't thought once about his sexuality.
