CAPRICIOUS KING
If possible, scheduling a meeting with the newest Gamemakers was even more of a challenge than with the twins. She'd nearly thrown up when they had been announced -three untested, baby faced Capitolites? And none of them from her block or country club. She'd wailed and sobbed until her children had called up the driver and sent her shopping.
Tonight, she wore a dress she'd bought on that outing. She'd instantly fallen in love with the solid color, which offset her dark eyes. A few rubies and diamonds and sky high heels, and she had the perfect outfit. She took one last glance at her compact and then slipped out of the limo and onto the white carpet. Really, she wished the President would relax his restrictions on the tributes and allow them to have the various galas and banquets at somewhere other than the functional (read: hideous) Training Center. Whoever had put together this evening's event had done a passably good job of sprucing up the place. A tent erected at the entrance was lined in lilies, and crystal chandeliers flickered with candle light.
Capricious took her time walking the tent, pausing for photos whenever asked, making sure every curve was captured. Then, it was inside for a dinner she wouldn't eat. She had too much on her mind to worry about food. First priority: find someone powerful enough to introduce to the Gamemakers. Second priority: make sure she got at least one photo with Victor Atticus Manor, for her collection.
Between the tent and the banquet room, Capricious stopped into the ladies to reapply her lipstick. She pressed the nude color between newly botoxed lips. When she walked out, everyone else had already been seated, which was perfect. She really loved to make an entrance. Though a few Peacekeepers lingered, she was free to take her time, monster heels clacking on the concrete. Concrete. They really needed to move the event.
She passed by a hallway, and a blonde shadow caught her eye. Capricious slowed, flicking her heavy eyelashes over her shoulder. She recognized the girl instantly, of course. What was she was trying to surmise was her purpose. Down the hall, Capricious could see signs for the training rooms. So, she wasn't terribly far off the beaten path. Capricious let her little legs carry her past the hallway before she paused, took a breath, and then reversed her steps to come face to face with the girl.
"It's Natalie, right?" she purred, knowing full well the impact of having strangers know your name. It was enough sometimes to forget other important details. Like, that Capricious King was a Gamemaker, who was willing to do most anything to lull her prey into complacency. "I think I've gotten lost. I'm supposed to be here for like, a dinner thing? Could you help me find it?"
She reached out sharpened, blood red nails, opening her hand to the girl.
