District 10 Female Tribute 73rd Hunger Games | Bailey Truus There is nothing to fear if you don't fear death. A stream of blood mimicking liquid slithered out of the training dummy's stomach where Bailey's dart had punctured its padded exterior. A sense of repulsion burst from each one of Bailey's neurological synapses leaving her lunch nearly splattered across the floor. It wasn't the fact that false blood was spilling right before her, or even that true blood would be spilling before her soon enough. Bailey was a butcher, adapted to swimming in pools of crimson warmth. Accustomed to seeing the life in a living being's eyes die. What made Bailey's body shudder and shake as her darts drove themselves into their target was the thought of Esme doing these actions to a real person. The thought of her small innocent cousin encased in a veil of the purest light becoming stained by the hell of murder. And it was all Bailey's fault. If she hadn't stayed silent. Hadn't let Esme be swept away into the darkness her light would never have been blown out and thrown into a lifeless chasm. Bailey's guilt boiled into rage as her anger sent another dart diving through the air. However Bailey's eyes grew wide as she watched the dark fly clearly over her target dummy and off into the training center. The oxygen Bailey had been holding hostage in her lunges finally escaped as the dart sunk into the wall. Yet it was only then with a sickening fear Bailey released it had just nicked the cheek of the fearsome boy from four. The one of course who looked as though he was far too old to even be competing. Still Bailey knew it was better to apologize to the man instead of leaving an unsettled scar between them, especially with the games looming over head. So summoning all the courage she could Bailey walked up to the man and forced her nearly fainting body to stand before him. "I'm really sorry about that. I swear I wasn't trying to hit you... I... I just was pissed at myself over something and didn't aim as well as I should have." |
