EPONA MILLS
DISTRICT ONE
A broken shin hurt like a bitch. Which was only fair and square, since this whole thing kinda started with a bitch, and then escalated to more bitchiness, and now Epona was sitting on a bench cursing through her teeth, thinking that maybe she could have been a better role model to her two-year-old daughter after all. The two-year-old, who was sitting on the bench as well, trying to pry apart a band-aid to stick it on Mommy's busted leg. She had gotten as far as sticking it to her own fingers.
"Mommy's gonna be fine, baby" Epona muttered, patting her daughter's dark and messy hair; the little one had lost a hair tie in the excitement of cheering Mommy on in the street fight. People have dispersed now, and her opponent was gone, but Epona only got as far as the bench on her broken leg, and no one seemed inclined to help her out. She still had the stigma of a single teen mother, and, even worse, a career dropout. There was only one thing left to do: Swallow her dignity, and call her boss at the metal shop, asking for a ride to a doctor.
Well, that, or walk home on a broken leg.
...
Nope.
Epona sighed and then winced as Macha put the band aid on her swelling shin, and patted it down with her tiny hands. Even the touch hurt so much she almost cried out, but she did not want to scare the kid any more. Macha was already going to be quite the messed up woman, the way her parenting skills were progressing...
"Wait a little bit, baby. Mommy's gonna have to find someone to take us to a doctor..."
