R inji awoke early that morning, as he was to work in the lumber yards. Getting out of bed, reluctantly, he began getting himself ready for the day. When getting dressed, as he was from the wealthier part of District Seven, Rinji chose clothes that were good for work, yet still looked nice. He chose a nice-looking shirt that was of a color somewhere between brown and orange. The shirt's sleeves were meant to look as if they were rolled up, and they were at three-quarters length. There was a slight collar on the shirt and three or four buttons down the front of it.The bottoms he chose to wear were a pair of black jeans that he often wore to work. Surprisingly, there was very little for dirt or wear on them, and they still looked to be in great condition, meaning they still looked nice. When choosing his shoes, he had three pairs to choose from, which resulted in him taking his black pair of lace-up work boots. He slipped on his black watch, he was all dressed for a day at work. Heading to the kitchen, Rinji got himself some breakfast, which included some fruit and a slice of bread. It wasn't much, but it was more than some people got, and he could have eaten more if he wanted to. The boy just wasn't one to eat a very big breakfast. Regardless, he still managed to keep a healthy, toned and athletic-seeming body. Rinji exited his home and began heading down the street. It would take him about a half an hour to get to work, which meant it was a good thing he had gotten up so early compared to when he would have had he not had to work that day, like on a weekend. He could be heard walking down the sidewalk, his boots crunching on the twigs or leaves that littered the ground. Eventually, he reached the forest, right in the area where he would be working. There were a lot of other workers that had already arrived, moving logs and preparing to harvest more. A few of them greeted him, and he returned the welcome. Then, Rinji picked up his axe and began working. After the day was over, at around five o'clock that evening, he started walking home. As he was walking, however, Rinji came across something a bit odd. On the sidewalk, the very same one he had walked on earlier, there was now blood. Clearly, someone had gotten hurt. Rinji wasn't always all too concerned with others, but when it came to the point that the sidewalk had blood on it, he began to worry. He sincerely hoped nothing had happened to anyone her knew. Rinji decided that he should find someone, perhaps who might know what caused this. That was when he saw another boy nearby who looked like he had to have been about Rinji's age or a year younger. Rinji then decided to get his attention. "Hey, over there!" he shouted. "Did you happen to see what caused this?" he asked, his voice still raised so that he could be heard as he motioned to the bloodstained concrete that was the sidewalk. The one thing that Rinji was truly hoping in that moment was that it wasn't a crime scene. |
