ENZO KREARNS
"Says"
Wave after wave had hit Enzo Krearns head first. The first one a literal one, the next few unimaginable horrors. The first wave was psychical, causing cuts and bruises that healed within the week and the horrid broken leg that was teetering his sanity off balance. The second wave was a wave of emotions that came crashing down upon his already broken form, shattering his heart inside his chest, his mind failing to function at full capacity. An error in calculations that easily could have been fatal. It started with Harbinger Rhodes, the man that he should hate with every part of his being, but couldn't. Then it was the release of Mason Krearns, funeral boat, back upon the ocean waves. Then another bombshell to fall upon his already broken heart, the bodies of his parents being recovered by the search and rescue parties. Enzo didn't break then, nothing could break him, unless Nemo or Everett's bodies were recovered. A wave of emotion had struck him, but Everett and Nemo finally came the next day, a reunion in order.
The last wave that struck upon Enzo Krearns was a wave of confusion. What to do then? His life had been nothing but a thin sheet of glass, that the tsunami tore down within seconds. Everett took over as careholder of Enzo and Nemo, but not without snide remark from the peacekeepers, in which Enzo ignored them. The three Krearns brothers were now in a similar situation as their dead cousins. ALone and on their own. Enzo had to get a job working at the pier gutting fish for a living, while Everett did his knot thing. The world seemed to be against them in every way, Enzo's leg not healing fast enough, the wooden crutches not doing anything to ease the stress of it, but allowing his to barely walk. Frustration boiled through his blood as he marched his way up to the richer Krearns house.
This was his job given by Everett. An argument had occurred, but the forcefulness of Everett and the emotion wanting to be broken forced Enzo to go, for his brother's sake. His brother's words playing back in his mind, "Enzo go check on the rest of the family, the cousins, after all a Krearns looks out for their family!" The way Everett had said it made him want to punch the ever living shit out of him, but violence was bad. He could already hear his mother's voice telling him so. A chuckle escapes his lips as the violent want vanishes into a calm and leisurely boredom. Cousins were still Krearns, even if they were a pain in the ass at times.
The place that his cousins, Nevah and Newt lived looked huge compared to the place they had. A slight sense of envy hits Enzo like a wave, another wave of some more annoyance. If only their Mother and Father had left a little more behind. The house they originally lived in belonged to the sea, now Everett, Enzo and Nemo were stuck in a smaller house than before. The building reminded the Krearns boy of a mansion, or a place in victor's village where the homes could fit too many people. The steps up were the worst thing about it. His crutches didn't help him with steps, it was a torturous climb. At one point he wanted to call it quits and go home to whatever torture Everett had, but he couldn't. Family still mattered in the end.
The door was unlocked, he jiggled the knob to check if it was, and his brilliant mind decided to surprise the two. One that could take him down within a second, but sometimes his mind does what it does. The house was calm as he entered it, the rooms nothing but spotless clean. It felt annoying to him, a home that only held five members being so big and so clean. The boy could feel his eyes rolling at the sight. Exploration to find his cousins began then. The walls seemed to go on forever. A never ending escape from the richer Krearns home. Silence was his friend, darkness was his lover, and sneaking around was his mission.
His eyes caught sight of the first one, the other one probably on the complete opposite side of the house. The female Krearns cousin, a deadly woman who probably could slit his throat in seconds. A smirk on his face as she hadn't noticed him in the house. A foot out from behind his hiding spot. A smirk that was soon to vanish. Words falling from his lips, "Found you!" Sneaking on crutches hadn't been easy, but the next thing to happen wouldn't be easier with them. It was all Everett's fault.
