My eyes bleed tears of pain from yesterday. I had struck down Daniel with only a few short blows, nothing had stopped me from killing. My mind is filled with thoughts that richochet off the walls I have built around them to keep my conscious from stopping me from. I know that even if I make it back home, there are those I will need to face. Daniel's family and friends. I shiver and a new flood of tears flow out from my eyes everytime I think of how I will need to face the punishment of killing him.
After I had turned away and grieved for my dead friends and the newly deceased Daniel, his body was taken away as usual in these games. I suspect they took it away rather quicker because of what happened last games with a little girl's skeleton being torn from her body after she was struck down.
I sat against the reflected glimmer of light from the disgusting lake, my lithe body outlining a shadow against it. That was when the sponsorship came for me.
I first noticed them when I heard the little tingling noise from the parachutes floating down, but I had adapted a zombie like state of just staring at the lakw, not paying attention to anything, and so I was hit on the head by one. I opened the little parcel up to find some weird clothing, along with a weird beard that looked like it could be taped on.
I pulled out the beard first, inspecting it before noticing how much it looked like Daniel's, before emotions overcame me yet again and I had to swiftly stuff the beard into my bag. Then I pulled out the odd clothing.
I decided that even though it didn't appear to offer much protection, my original clothes were now tattered and dirty, and so I put on the clothes.
Let's just say now the heat doesn't bother me too much.
I grabbed two other objects that were stuffed into the bottom, cringing as I noticed what they were. I had seen them in previous games and I knew how they could be used as an accompanyment to an already deadly weapon. It was a jar of tar and flint. Hopefully I won't need to use it soon.
As I began to drift off to sleep, I ignored the anthem playing up above. I didn't want to feed the painful thought that Daniel was now also dead.
After I slept my sleep filled with nightmares, I awoke to the sound of footsteps echoing off the walls around the lake and I sprung up, grabbing at my sword.
It was the boy from the district just below, and I had seen him with Justice and how he wanted to kill just as much as the boy from one. I knew I had to act fast, and so I quickly opened the tar and slathered it onto the sword, alighting it with the flint. Then I look at the boy as I hold my flaming sword, my eyes betraying the illusion of bravery I was trying to put on with my bold stature and almost emotionless face.
"I'm sorry," I speak in my almost a whisper voice, "but I need to get home."
and i join you in your walls
we realize our own f a u l t s
and as h e a r t s we go, we go
humbled, oh
we realize our own f a u l t s
and as h e a r t s we go, we go
humbled, oh
