(Face Claim is Robyn Young)
NAME: Poppy Michelle Winters
AGE: 15
GENDER: Female
DISTRICT: 12
BIRTHDAY: August 21st
APPEARANCE:
Poppy stands at 5'6'', and weighs 120 pounds, which makes her a fairly average size. She's always felt pretty comfortable about her body, and has never been insecure about herself. She has dark brown hair that comes down almost to her hip. It's very thick hair, which is why she hardly ever cuts it. It's too much of a pain.
She has pale skin, for genetic reasons. She spends plenty of time out in the sun, but always seems to be pale. Her striking blue-green eyes are from her mother, while the rest of her facial features seem to look more like her father.
Her appearance is important to her, but she's not crazy about it like some girls. On a normal day, she'll wear a dark blue tank-top and torn jeans, nothing special. Occasionally she might tie her hair up or braid it, but it's usually just seen down. She might wear light makeup.
PERSONALITY:
Poppy is a very gentle person, which she gets from her mother. She loves to help other people or help around the house in her free time. Cruel people make her sick, and she would rather die than hurt a person. This was really challenging for her parents as she was growing up, because they had to stop her from attacking the Peacekeepers every time they hurt someone.
She is a very talkative girl, and sometimes it's hard to get her to shut up. Some people might find her very annoying because of this. She loves to make new friends, mostly because it's easy for her, and she'll look past the outside of a person to see what's inside of them. Looks don't really matter to her.
If someone angers her, which is hard to do, she becomes really quiet. This is because she's trying to hold back so she doesn't yell at anyone. She's very good at controlling her anger. But because she gets all quiet like this, it's easy to tell when she's angry, making it easy for bullies to get under her skin. And she doesn't ever fight back or try to defend herself making her a target at school.
But even if she's bullied constantly, it's hard to put her down. She'll brush off almost any insult and ignore the people that are bothering her.
HISTORY:
Poppy was born on August 21st in her parents' old house in the Seam. The first floor was a kitchen and living room combined, with a tiny television sitting on the kitchen counter and a table in the center of the room. There was a small pantry, refrigerator, stove, and oven crammed in the corner. Along the wall was a flight of stairs that led up to the second floor. There were two bedrooms here and one bathroom. Behind the house was a small square yard with a garden.
Her mother, Lillian Winters, worked at a bakery down the street. She made okay money there, but all of it was spent supporting their family of five. Her father, Daniel Winters, worked in the mines like most male adults. He was in a mine accident at age nineteen, crippling his left leg. As a result, he always walked with a limp.
Poppy attended a small public school, where she thrived. She loved to learn, and her favorite thing to do was write. She would write anything, poems, stories, whatever came to mind. She began sharing them with her grandmother, Yang Winters, who was also a good writer. The two of them spent hours after Poppy got home from school, reciting poems or writing their own fun adventures together. Until her grandmother passed away.
Yang Winters passed away the day before Lillian had her second child, from unknown causes. Lillian was in so much grief that she passed away while giving birth to Rita, Poppy's little sister. Over the course of two days, Poppy lost her grandmother and mother, the two closest people to her. This was too much for her to handle, and she ran away from home.
She was gone for three days, spending the nights behind the old bakery where her mother used to work. Her father finally found her, and brought her back home to him.
Daniel raised both of his daughters the best he could, having them stay with one of Poppy's friends if he ever had to work late at the mines. Now, Poppy is fifteen and Rita is eleven. Poppy is working wherever she can make money to try and help support her family.
