DECATHLON: 100M SPRINT

Welcome to the Decathlon tournament of the second Panem Olympic Games! The track and field complex is located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The execution of this event is simple. Feel free to roleplay your character on the starting blocks and running, and then paste the code [*roll=349+1050] without the asterisks into your post and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. This will result in a four-digit number that will correspond to a time, which is read with a decimal point separating the first two and the last two digits (e.g. 1264 is read as 12.64 seconds)

The competitor with the lowest time wins this event. Times for this event will be continually updated on this thread.

After everyone has rolled, feel free to edit your post with your character's reaction if you so desire, but please keep it to one post rather than multiple.

There is NO POSTING ORDER; you may post your shots whenever you please. Keep in mind that this event must be wrapped up by the end of the Olympics Day.

The majority of the Krearns pack is out competing in the games, even the one eyed donkey. Nevah found it rather amusing when she found out her twin was competing in the swimming, well that’ll be an easy way for him to drown. But the most surprising thing was when she found out she’d be facing Enzo in the decathlon, the only worth component of her family. Finally he is fixed from the tsunami, unlike her twin who has long term damage to endure. Long term damage for her to forever tease.

Lining up on the track, Nevah glances towards Enzo, flashing him a smirk as she readies herself. ”Catch me if you can loser.”

Pushing herself off the ground, Nevah using all the force to power her legs forwards. She’s the only useful Krearns and this is her time to prove it.

L U X P E L O T T E

The second 100m competition of the day and I'm confident the only way to go from the last race is up.

12.40s wasn't bad, but I had certainly run faster in training. Perhaps the added pressure of this new time amounting to points would push me further to my limits, maybe even break them. I scoff slightly at the thought, who am I kidding? My training sessions had all proved I was consistent.

Consistently bad.

But this decathlon is something else. It's full of the most beautiful people who I'm sure could beat me to a pulp and I'd still be thankful. A glance at the competitors list and I only recognise the names of fallen tributes. Sad, really, how they still go for gold despite being permanently damaged by the death of a relative.

Although, I guess that is more of a reason to compete than not to. If I were in their shoes, I'd probably be a mess on legs. So, no, it's not sad that they are managing to find something to fight for when the world wants you dead.

It's admirable.

Déjà vu as we line up; I've been here before, just a matter of moments ago. What could I do differently this time in order to run faster? Nothing, most likely. Perhaps being crap is just my body rebelling against my parent's force.

But I want to do well too, as strange as it is to feel. If years of training can amount to anything that isn't a place in the Hunger Games, it can amount to a medal around my neck. Any colour, any size—I'm in it for the memories.

I settle into the blocks and await a fired shot. And then, it comes, bang, and I'm not imagining an axe behind me now—I imagine points beside my name.

One breath is all I need to run the race. My eyes flicker to my competitors and AK La Torre has gone out all guns blazing, whilst the Krearns girl drives into the wind.

What I do is simple; I just run.

You turned away when I looked you in the eye,
And hesitated when I asked if you were alright,
Seems like you're fighting for you life,

I've never been much of a runner. In fact, I've never been an athlete. My entire life is devoted to helping the less fortunate people, to those who can't give back. It's something my parents never approved of, and over the years they've made it clear; however, I have learned that I have nothing to prove to them. But maybe this is a chance to show them that even though I chose the path I'm walking now, I'm still capable of succeeding. It's a chance of a lifetime, and I'm not letting it pass me by.

My eyes dart in every direction looking at the mighty wall of the Olympic standing setting in the middle of district four. Cameras are located in every corner capturing every single angle - mom and dad are probably watching at home praying I fail miserably. I can almost imagine how Renegade will react when she sees me competing in the Olympic games.

But I shake it all away.

Today is about me. These Olympic competitions are about finding who I truly am. I'm tired of being knocked down for never being good enough. I'm tired of looking people in the eye and lying to them. I'm fine. Yet I'm never fine. I've endured much throughout my life, and I'm hoping this is what I need to break free of the chains holding me back.

A heavy sigh flees my chest as I find myself standing on the track staring at the finish line. A thousand thoughts race through my mind as I take in those I'm competing against, and I know they'll probably smash me. But I don't let it get me down.

I place my feet against the blocks before planting the palm of my hands firmly against the ground.

"Take your marks."

I inhale the biggest breath I possibly can.

"Set."

I allow it all to fill my lungs.

Bang

My feet move, and I'm sprinting as fast as I possibly can towards the rope at the end.

They'd made her leave her wolves at home and so for the first time in many years, she knew heartache. The train ride to Four was long and cramped and bumpy. Every time her shoulder brushed against Royal's a prickle flared up her spine. She couldn't be easy around the butcher, even though they'd shared many conversations over the last three years. Now they were competitors and Cirque had every reason to believe Royal was about to beat the shit out of her.

You qualified, just the same as her, James had said the night before as he packed her suitcase. It was a small comfort, given the size of the District One qualifiers in the Decathlon. She tried very hard not to think about two particular competitors, even as AK teased her about her heartsickness.

Overnight in Four, she tried to put some distance between herself and the others, retiring early, only to toss and turn. It showed in the morning as she stretched for the 100m Sprint. Her legs were stiff and cold, her gaze constantly sliding when it should have been laser focused on the track lanes.

As they set up, adjusting the equipment, she threw caution to the wind. "Ready to carve up the track, Hardt?" She smirked at the pun, put her feet to the blocks and waited.

Then, she ran.

Running shouldn't be too hard. It's just a quick sprint down the track. Seems simple, but maybe it's harder than that. Life has never been easy. But this is a chance to honor my family. To make them proud as they watch down from the sky. If only they could see me now. I hope they would be proud of me because I've changed so much. And as I eye the finish line, I know that this is worth more than anything in the world. But all I can do is try. All I can do is my best. The Olympics are not the main reason why I did my best in the qualifiers at home though. Thing is, I dont think she knows my real reason for coming. I did it to be close to her.

The tsunami had broken him, torn him to shreds and yet, here he was. Competing in one of the toughest events that the olympics held. The decathlon, only the highly skilled make it there. So it was no surprise him and his cousin had made it in with ease. The rest of the family were around, gathering medals, just like them. Everett was even around, even though he heard that his brother got destroyed by a Hammerfell in wrestling. The Krearns boy would remember that to create abusive blackmail onto Everett's deformed and weak mind. Enzo was the best, no one could stop him, not even Nevah would. Nevah was the only real competition he had in the Olympics.

The first event was a sprint, something that should be easy for the Krearns boy as he has had to run from the wave that crushed his leg. Nevah races next him of all places to be put at. Her evil eyes stare at him like they were ready to roast his insides alive with insults. And her voice comes along like the poison that it was, ”Catch me if you can loser.” All he can do is breath and ignore her words as this was his event, not hers. Everything he had trained for, everything he had done, this was his test. This was his mission to prove he was stronger than Jay. Stronger than Mason. Stronger than Someith. The Krearns family had enough disappointment from Newt to Everett. Everything was on the line, he'd take the gold and shove it in the rest of their faces. Enzo Krearns, gold medalist of the decathlon.

His feet take off as he races for himself. The strength that he needed to show his face, to prove that none of them were weak. None of them were failures like the public would believe. Krearns were meant for the world to be monsters, and that's what he would be, a monster ready to kill at any second. A monster ready to destroy everyone in his face. A medal was waiting for his neck and all he had to do was reach it.

The sun toasted her sweet melanin kissed skin, the heat radiating the scent of fresh salt water throughout the hot summer air. Pulling her fluffed mane back, she ties it into a giant puff before slipping an array of flowers throughout the mass, before passing through the crowds of travelers checking into the Olympic Village. She practically knew her way around the park, though it'd been different with catching cat calls and hoards of Capitol interns. They'd only been looking to mooch off her new fame with interviews upon interviews upon one another. No hesitation, no mercy, a manicured finger flips the bird in the crowds of blank faces. She couldn't care less of the publicity from the Capitol, she'd made a big name of herself to reach these Olympics - all on her own.

Practically skipping to the Olympic Park with her signature red soles, the imaginary trail marks those she's had to prey on to get to where she is now. An independent from the pride, she roared a, "FUCK YOU.", to her father - and with that she had made him her first brutal victim. However, it'd been years, and the body count only raised as she did up the social ladder. Though, being the black girl goddess of the district surely had sent her back a bit, being in a District with hundreds and thousands of privileged whites.

It was her first event of the Olympics scheduled these days, the Decathlon. A series of events she'd trained for extensively, facing off against the other best from throughout the three allotted districts. It was her strong suit, unlike swimming - it was the typical stereotype that all of District Four's contenders would fill up the lanes in the swimming pools, they're basically mermaid with legs.

However, Jequirity wasn't the one to give somebody anything they'd expect.

Guns blazing, she spots the faces of the other contenders as the official beginning of the decathlon commences. The familiar faces of past tributes siblings line up alongside her, they had little in common in that sense, but she knew she'd made a name for herself all on her own. She didn't depend on a dead sibling to make one for her.

Her body goes rigid as she stares at the long path ahead. She had confidence in herself when she left home this morning, thought that maybe her Career training was adequate to do well in the events, but now it falters. Maybe she isn't better than all the others — La Torre, Krearns, big names that everyone knows, or everyone else, all accomplished Careers. But she is used to always being second best (or worse), so it wouldn't exactly be a surprise to her if she failed miserably at every event she did.

Despite her doubts about herself, Cain really was a capable Career. She just had trouble seeing it, as she does now when the whistle blows.

And she forgets to be tense when she lunges forward into a sprint.
