[Day 1] Foil Round 1: Cage vs. Blythe

F E E.

I'm sort of freaking out a little bit. Only sort of. I sort of just ran away from home but only a little bit. The little bit part being the part where I packed a backpack and went to to catch the train to four without telling anyone. Seeing as no one in my family knows that I even train I'm sure they're going to wonder where I am. That is, until they see me on the television, performing in the Olympics.

I'm not the one who came up with the idea to come, that was my trainer.

Sampson is likely to actually murder me when she realizes where I've gone but there's a strange exhilaration settled behind my collarbones like the erratic ticking of a broken clock. I've never done something like this before, rebelled so furiously. All of it has been done in secret, done so my parents won't notice and decide to try and get my tongue docked early.

It's odd being in a place where no one understands you.

Not many people in four seem to speak sign but I guess I forgot that I barely ever go anywhere without Sampson attached to my hip. She's always there to translate for me.

I step on the platform, foil in hand. I swish it experimentally. I'm more a runner than anything but I've had a bit of training with a sword. I hope my training center knows what they were doing, signing me up for this. I offer my opponent a wave but nothing more than that. I doubt they speak sign.

It looks like they're only interested in getting started anyway. I barely dodge a second point before I raise my foil to clap back at them.
