BOXING: ROUND 1

Welcome to the Boxing event of the second Panem Olympic Games! The boxing rings are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The boxing event is a tournament, which follows a bracket. Each match will occur on this thread. Feel free to roleplay your character boxing their opponent and then paste the code [*roll range="1-7"] without the asterisk into your post THREE TIMES and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. These numbers are added up to determine the winner of each match.

The competitor who scores higher than their opponent moves on to the next round, which will be posted on a new thread. As the boxers post, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round matches have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

These games are away for me to escape but from what? For so long life trailed on so peacefully, my family in health and my mind happy. Nothing to threaten me or my family, none of us were harmed but then I started chiselling away at that stability. Brick by brick, we begin to wobble…I could easily have helped collapse our existence. And for what? A simple pleasure that caught my eye one night, a silly juvenile mistake that has put me and my family into jeopardy. A simple little one night fight for entertainment, that’s all it was going to be. I didn’t expect to win and I expected right but that night caused the series of events.

A simple night brought terror into my mind, it wiped the health from my family and now I have made them teeter over the edge. Crime brought this colossus weight onto my shoulders, it ruined me and it ruined them. And now I have escaped from what I caused…just for a moment. And what have I escaped too? Another fight. A fight to win a piece of metal to place around my neck. Maybe such treasure could bring joy to us, add a brick to our unstable life.

I remember the train departing from District One, only Liara and my aunt waved me goodbye. Wrex is so ill and there is only me to blame for his failing health. Once a strong boy and now he is so fragile, I broke my own brother…

Standing in the ring, sweat burns my eyes as the crowd’s cheers are deafened by the pulsating noise that has existed in my head recently. I should have stayed at home, to care of them. I can’t return to them empty handed, I can’t let them down after all I have done.

He wasn't quite as fond of boxing as he was of wrestling, but it wasn't that far behind, either.

It was another sport where your primary weapons were your own two hands, only this time you were trying to knock someone's lights out instead of pin them to the ground.

It still was a fun way to pass the time, and in Aidan's mind, another worthy way to compare his own strength and skill against another.

Plus, he did have to admit, if it ever came down to a legitimate fight, socking someone in the face or the gut was a bit quicker and effective than trying to wrestle them down.

Today, his opponent is a boy who can't be much older than thirteen or fourteen. His height was nearly identical to Aidan himself, but his face betrayed the youth glittering behind his eyes.

Still, that didn't mean that he wasn't going to be a pushover. Anyone, boy or girl, fourteen or twenty, had a chance of beating him if they were good enough or he let down his guard.

He wasn't planning on letting down his guard.

Brutus was furious. He’d been given a chance to show his strength, to prove his worth, and he’d blown it in a fit of uncontrolled rage. How stupid was he to think that charging at his opponent would land him the wrestling match! The other boy had barely had to move. He’d simply let Brutus’ own weight carry him forward until the Greenfield boy had found himself lying flat on the matt, his opponent victorious.

That wouldn’t happen this time. Boxing was a sport of brains as much as brawn, and though Brutus favored the latter, he knew how to use the former when it mattered. His opponent was bigger than him, probably had more reach, but that wouldn’t deter him. He’d have to use his speed to dart around him and land some key punches. He didn’t expect to win the whole thing, but two first round losses would be unacceptable.

What would make it even more painful is the knowledge that Clouse had been doing well in all of his events. The brothers were supposed to be equals, and yet Brutus knew that at the Olympics’ end, Clouse would be viewed as the superior sibling, whereas Brutus would be nothing more than his short-tempered brother. Brutus didn’t want that, and he certainly didn’t want anything but the best for his twin, so the only solution was to bring home the gold in his final event.

As the match started, Brutus floated out of the way of many of his opponent’s punches, dodging one after another. For each of his opponent’s attempts, Brutus made sure to return the favor, leaving stinging blows every time he got an opportunity.

Boxing. It wasn't his specialty. It wasn't something he expected to sign up for at first. There was always a certain tension since Scout Fray died when it came to fist fighting. Scout Fray had demolished him in hand to hand. It was a blow to his pride, but then she had been reaped. HE watched her fight through the arena, until her bitter end. This was the reason he signed up. Scout Fray made him do it. In his mind, he knew what she would have told him when he was debating between it. He knew what vile words would have been thrown at him in an instant. And so he signed up for it, following his memories of the fallen.

When he had seen the name of his opponent, something in his gut had fallen. They were a girl, from the same district as himself. A girl who could probably kick his ass within seconds, if they were anything like Scout Fray. If they were anything like Rory. If they were anything like Francesca. If they were anything like Anastasia, his ex. It didn't matter to him that they were a girl. There was nothing wrong with a competition that meant beating up a woman for the right reasons. Women were just as strong, if not, stronger than many of the males. There were so many examples of these instances. Mainly the victors that still lived to that day.

As he stepped into the ring, the crowd was cheering. His heartbeat was increasing as his nerves were too. Eyes watch the girl as she steps up to the ring. They were both ready for their duel of fists. Something he had only been able to do a few times. Bodies stretched and energized. The crowds cheer reaching throughout the building. Remo only spoke kind words, "Good Luck." A smile that he brought up, until the bell rang for the match to start. A focused look falls upon his face as the duel of fists begins.

She wasn't entirely sure why she was here. Why she had signed up and what she was trying to achieve. The boss had said there was a job across Districts that had needed to be done. An oposing assassin that had threatened him in some manner. He'd sent her here to deal with it. She wasn't entirely pleased with the even he'd signed her up for, she didn't care for boxing or anything, she just didn't want to waste her time in some silly match when she had a job to do. She had a faceless assassin to track down and kill before she was sent back to District One. Ambrose didn't know what the person looked like, only that he worked for one of the top drug cartels in District Four.

Not only did she had to track him down between wasting her time in a fist fight with gloves she had to sneak out over the Olympic Village and into the residential areas of a heavily guarded District. She wasn't scared, she didn' get scared, she didn't feel anything. Nothing, except for the fact that the task seemed tedious and like a waste of her time. The gang she was supposed to be infiltrating in District One wasn't going so well, her people skills weren't up to standard and no amount of books were helping her to develop them. She was sure they could see right through her poorly practiced act. She had to do better, it was all about survival and Ambrose would end her in a moment if he thought she was slipping.

Her opponent was a boy, he looked as though he had practiced fighting once or twice. Someone who thought they knew how to use a weapon, but inherently was nowhere near as skilled as she was. She didn't have time to waste trying to win some useless piece of metal. And so she stepped into the ring, and swung a few times, hoping it'd be over with quick. She had an assassin to kill.

It's hard to believe how much time has gone by since I last stood in the Olympic stadium. So much has changed. I've found the love of my life, and I want nothing more than to make her happy. I want to care for her. I threw away my entire life just to be with her, and thankfully it's worked out. I don't know what exactly brought me back, but I know I want to compete one last time. I want to do something to make my career retirement worth it. To make sure that everything falls into place. So much has changed. The tsunami ruined most of the district, but it appears they haven't let that hold them back. It's amazing what can happen in such short time. But I'm here because I want to relive the moment for the last time.

I remember the moments of walking through the village. I remember talking to Charbon for the very first time. I remember falling in love at first sight. I have so many memories here, and it's a shame that after this is finished, I'm going to put them all away and cherish what I have forever. I went from looking like someone who competed in the games to making a name for myself. It's all I wanted.

Even qualifying for a boxing event means the world to me. It's one last chance to see if I have it in me still. A chance to prove to myself that I'm still the Olympic medalist I was last time. A gold in Javelin throw, a silver in pole vault, a bronze in foil. I didn't sign up for them this time. No, I qualified for boxing. It's something different.

When I see my opponent is a lady, I feel bad because I would never intentionally harm a woman. I was raised better than that. My heart sinks into the pits of my stomach as I try to avoid her fists flying at me. The match has started, and I'm hoping I don't allow my morals to stop me from doing the best I can possibly do.

Babes, bitches, boobs, booze, and drugs. The past night in the Olympic village took a few right turns too many, and she could still practically feel the bottle of vodka between her heavenly shaped ass cheeks as she performed her (one-of-many) party tricks. Pouring lines of shots of strong vodka along a counter from out of her ass had done the work of squats and DAMN did her ass look perky the morning after. It was her job back in one - pleasing the customers no matter who they were as long as they slapped down a pretty tip before, during, and after. She was practically rolling in money and it had only been a night over since this years Olympic Games had commenced, and it was without a doubt she'd already made the fan favorites athletes list.

She can taste the liquor along the lining of her mouth from the body shots off a drunk bikini bitch when they moved to the beach for the party. She sloppily made out with the sandy blonde, but couldn't for the life of her remember a name - she hadn't cared either way, the girl made a simple 6 at the most, and she was just being generous. She damn well couldn't be seen with anyone who wasn't money or a victor, it wasn't worth her precious time.

Duchess runs a cherry sucker across her tongue to take the taste away, and it hadn't been the only think running across her tongue recently. She was on the hunt for Leon Krigel, she decided straddling her pole 24/7 just wasn't enough anymore - she wanted the real deal between her legs and at the palm of her hands as she worked her magic. Rumor has it the Fray boy was running around here recently as the family was known for their participation in the Olympics, and she just thought - why not an orgy? She could practically feel the tension between her and the prosthetic leg as she'd rip it off while forcing the pants from his body.

"Duchess vs Flint Arch", the match was announced and she was thrown out of her wild imagination. Sighing with dissatisfaction she rise from the benches in her trashy, gutter whore getup, and met the District One boy in the middle of the ring. She'd watch a boy die in a battle of Russian Roulette against her not too long ago, so kicking this boys ass should be a walk in the park. He looks like a mama's boy, Duchess will show him what a real woman can treat him like though. "Ladies first", the boy remarks. "Glaadlyyyy", she responds before throwing up her ones and twos. "You'd look sexy even in a body bag, babe."

The Olympics: home of the careers with freakish names like Torka and Brigadier. He could offer a lesson or two about how not to embarrass one’s own family by picking stupid names, but luckily they all had different backgrounds. Some of them were even interesting; a nice little surprise in a basket full of disappointment.

This match would be an interesting one, however. He didn’t know a goddamn thing about his opponent, but there was the name. Strangeways-teach. Weird fucking name, but famous enough to capture everyone’s attention. My brother killed yours! How exciting. She had a legitimate reason to beat the shit out of him.

Let the match begin.

”Hey there hot stuff,” he said, winking. ”Ready to face a Fray?”

Nobody was.

He had done his wrestling match earlier this morning. Making it to the second round had never been a surprise to him, but the fact that he had barely made it there had been somewhat aggravating. Now, he stood outside the boxing ring, waiting to be called up for his match. This time, he wouldn't let himself be taken by surprise and be nearly knocked out. This time, he would crush his opponent from the start.

Sneering as he climbed up, his match announced only a half second before he started moving, he let himself land with a heavy thud on the floor of the ring, trying to intimidate his opponent. Narrowing his eyes, he sized up his adversary and raised his fists in their gloves. It would only take a few quick blows. There was nothing to worry about.

The bell sounded, and he started swinging.

I wrap my fists in cloth, an odd sensation really. Skin is not meant to be covered, at least not in my line of work. Skin is soft, like satin beneath razor-sharp fingertips. It is beauty where there is nothing but the stench of sweet wine clawing its way out a drunken man's gut. A foolish man whose lips did not notice the white powder which clung to clear glass.

Violence is unnecessary.

I slip gloves over my knuckles, I smile and I press my lips to the smooth cloth- leaving the imprint of blackened smiles upon a red as deep as blood. This hatred is all in good fun, rivalry built upon glory and talent instead of blood and bones. I'm not quit sure which I would prefer.

I have talent, that I know. I have stood against men stronger and wiser than he and I knew that I could end them without so much as a moment's hesitation. Poisons are like lightning, strong and brutal and ridding the world of filth before they are even able to process what has happened.

So when I strike it is lightning through a bitter storm.

She should've known better. Brig Strangways-Teach should have known before she signed up for the Olympics that she wouldn't be Brig here — she would be Strangways-Teach first and foremost. Roger's sister. Something she never minded being before.

She still hasn't gotten used to the spectacle.

And she can't believe she didn't realize that she'd be paired up with someone named Fray. Really, she should've known better.

As she straps her gloves on, she almost wishes — just for an instant — that she were named Libertine or La Torre. But instead she is here, because fighting someone named Fray is a family tradition.

But Kaiser isn't the victor, and Brig has no more reason to beat the snot out of this boy than she has reason to give Leon Krigel a piggyback ride.

That is, until he opens his mouth.

"Hey there hot stuff." With a wink, Kaiser Fray suddenly becomes every boy who's ever teased her, who's ever taken pleasure in watching her stammer and blush, just because they know how easy it is to get a rise out of Brigadier Strangways-Teach. And when her face reddens and her eyes drop to her toes and her tongue ties itself in a flawless anchor hitch knot, they smirk and sneer and declare her interested.

Her stomach clenches. Everyone will be watching this — grudge match, they'll call it. And when she fails, they'll intercut it with clips of Roger getting hacked to pieces, of Justice Fray burying an axe so deep in her brother's skull that the bit is hidden by his hair.

She's good, she knows it — she can beat him, and she wants to pummel him black and blue — but now she's in her head, and she can't fight Kaiser Fray and Brig Strangways-Teach at the same goddamn time.
