Soft skin slips beneath the touch of Kirito's rough hands. A light cough burbles from the young boy's mouth as Kirito continues his examination. Just outside the window the pale oranges of sunset shimmer through the panes. On such a lovely evening immersed in the evolution towards Autumn Kirito could understand the Mother's concern for her son. With the pleasantries of Autumn soon too swiftly to transform to the wicked wrath of winter, even the slightest cold bring about damnation to an entire household.
More than once Kirito had witnessed such epidemics and participated in the shoveling of snow over the bodies of stone. Death was a demon which never ceased to feed, yet where one could delay its meal then by all means evasive actions should be taken. By becoming doctor that was precisely what Kirito chose to do.
Stepping away from the boy Kirito turned towards one of his fifty glass cabinets filled with an assortment of liquid medicines. Although the trips Kirito annually was forced to take to the Capitol often brought back coffins, they in the very least allowed him to replenish his stocks. It was bleak, but in a way it allowed Kirito to add meaning to Iain's, Weaver's, Iona's, and all the others' deaths. If somewhere lost within a spectrum of souls they could see that their deaths allowed for the return of much needed supplies to save others dying, perhaps they weren't as lost wandering in the dark. Still Kirito had no way of knowing what there was beyond the blast of canon for he had been the one to count all twenty three in his own games.
A slight chill ran down Kirito's fingers as he removed a small glass of light yellow liquid from the cabinet before him. Within the glass container was a medicine used in the Capitol to help combat early pneumonia. It allows for the antibiotics prescribed to the patient following examination to be more effective. Normally such medicine would never fall into the hands of the Capitol's agricultural slaves. However, ever since Kirito's victory and the completion of his studies, he has brought these miracle supplies back with him to his home. What in every other Victor Village house was a large office stood Kirito's precisely designed doctor's office. Hell, the office Kirito worked in here was even more clean than those of the Capitol considering the amount of open wounds and surgeries he has to deal with per year.
Continuing on with the treatment Kirito next removed a fresh syringe from one of his many drawers. As carefully and precisely as Wyatt once threw a knife through Kirito's eye he plunged the syringe into the glass container. Several seconds later the proper amount of medicine now filled the syringe and Kirito returned the container to its original place. The next part was always the part which forced Kirito to concentrate the most while pushing away the monsters of his memories. Sitting patiently on the table the young boy watched as Kirito returned to his side with the needle in his hand. Instantly a look of fear swelled within the boy's irises, a look Kirito had seen many times upon the nearly dead. Yet just as Kirito always did in contrast to the demon who once cut down those terrified of death with no remorse, Kirito held onto the boy's hand with his own free one as gentle words fell from his tongue.
"Don't be afraid, this is just to make you feel better. It will only be a slight pinch and then your done."
After Kirito is granted a nod of approval he quickly and precisely drives the needle into the boy's vein. In an instant as the medicine is pushed down by Kirito's thumb he is thrown back through time. Lightning rips through storming clouds as rain slams against rotten soil. Kirito's knife plunges into Orion's eye with no hesitation. A sense of horror and euphoria once more conflict Kirito's brain just as it had in the actually moment. Then it ends... and Kirito removed the needle from the boy's arm replacing it with a small white sticker.
Although internally shaken a smile is all that stood on Kirito's face. "There all done, now just take one of these pills every day for a week and you will be back to yourself in no time." Kirito said to the boy as he handed him the package of antibiotics and sent him on his way with his Mother. Sweat brimmed Kirito's brow but he refused to stay idle as he packed his small medical bag with a few supplies. Before he could turn in for the night and spend it laced in his beloved Oasis' arms he promised to check up on Weavera for Navya and Harbinger. Considering how important their daughter was to them and how close they all were it wasn't even really work but more of an excuse to see each other.
A short walk later Kirito found himself inside the Rhodes household as he looked over Weavera within her crib. Off to the side Kirito could see Navya closely watching to ensure her daughter was developing well. However before Kirito could even begin to test her tears began to roll down his cheeks. Weakness in his legs brought him to his knees while his hands covered his eyes. So many emotions racked his mind leaving his words broken by sobs. "How... how will I do this... have a future with Oasis... all I want is for her to have the perfect wife... for our children to look at me with pride... how will they be able to look upon my broken body... how will they react when they learn what I've done... how can I ever have a future... how Navya... how?"
