BOXING: ROUND 2

Welcome to the Boxing event of the second Panem Olympic Games! The boxing rings are located within the Olympic Arena, with stands for spectators traveling from Districts One, Two, Four, and the Capitol to watch the competitors. Television cameras are set up around as well, to broadcast the event to anyone staying home as well as to the other districts who aren't as lucky and competent as you all! Please be sure you stretch and warm up with your coaches before you're called to the starting block, and remember, make your district proud!

The boxing event is a tournament, which follows a bracket. Each match will occur on this thread. Feel free to roleplay your character boxing their opponent and then paste the code [*roll range="1-7"] without the asterisk into your post THREE TIMES and roll, as you would with a Hunger Games die. These numbers are added up to determine the winner of each match.

The competitor who scores higher than their opponent moves on to the next round, which will be posted on a new thread. As the boxers post, the winners will be recorded here; when all the first round matches have been completed, the bracket will be updated and the next round will start.

Round two. Everything happened within a blur, Thane hadn’t quite adjusted to it yet and well he couldn’t believe it. For so long in the fighting club, he had been knocked down over and over. Slowly he became the punch bag for the other boys and that’s what he grew to become. He daren’t change it, he just put up with as it was all he could do. Get beaten up and have money in his pocket in return. He could see the physical damage that it was causing when he looked in the mirror but it was only his aunt and siblings that could see the damage that was happening to him within. ”Please stop going there Thane, it’s destroying you, we can find other ways.” It was true that he could find other ways but he was too sucked into his current way, there was really no escape. It wasn’t his masters that were stopping him but his own inner self

It was hard for him to explain to his family that he would be travelling to a different District to box, the one thing that was tearing him apart, he goes and travels to a foreign land to practice it, and for what? Fame? Fortune? Recognition?

Entering the ring, the crowd were already on their toes cheering, Thane was so easily able to defeat his last opponent that confidence that had been vacated from his body had crept back in reunion. Maybe I could actually win this. He thought to himself as he prepared for the next fight.

It had been a disappointing match last time. His opponent had withdrawn right before the match was to happen and so he had won by default. That wasn't the way he had wanted to advance. He had wanted to strike flesh and leave bruises on his competitor's flesh and their blood on the floor of the ring. Instead, he had had his arm raised in the air only seconds after stepping into the ring and without having thrown a single punch. This time would be different, though. This time, he was against someone who could and would really fight. He had watched her last match and grinned at the ferocity she had come out with, despite taking a good hit in the beginning.

Now, though, he was ready to keep the hits going and not letting her hard-hitting punches land on himself. It would be a good match, but he would obviously have to win. Towering at his 6'7" height, he looked down on her in more ways than one. He wasn't one for unearned respect, and while she had demonstrated a strong spirit he had to test that first hand.

The bell signals the start and he is ready to go all out.

Aidan Reid

The kid had given him a much tougher fight than he had expected, yet in the end, it was still Aidan that emerged victorious.

Now, on the eve of his third day in the Olympics, he was prepping himself to face an opponent that could very well be better than the kid he had beaten earlier.

The District One boy facing him looked competent enough, though he didn't recognize the face nor the family name. The fact caused just the tiniest of smiles to cross his face - they'd be fighting on even ground then, two nameless nobodies fighting in the quarterfinal match of Olympics boxing.

Well, this nameless nobody had given Torka Hammerfell the fight of his life in wrestling a few hours earlier, and he was ready to carry that momentum over into this fight.

His opponent strikes first, heavy and fast, but it is Aidan that delivers the counter, for better or for worse.

She had iced the bruise that formed against her jawline, gritting her teeth to distract the pain of the frost. Wrapping bandage around her knuckles, Duchess didn't even wince at the pain of the blisters beneath her gloves. She'd was happy enough that she knocked the kids ass out yesterday on the first round, and she didn't even have to flash her cantaloupes. The boy had been so backed up all she'd have to do is make one advance and he'd submit himself to her every will, "Come for me, baby boy.", she said playfully, yet seductively.

I'm really surprised I managed to move on. Boxing really isn't a thing of mine, but I had to try. It's all I have left. A chance to move on. A chance to make a name for myself one last time before retiring. Before settling down and having a family. I just want to do the best I can for them. As I walk into the ring, I throw a few quick jabs trying to warm myself up. I'm going to need it if I want to move on. I try to block out the sounds of the crowd, but it's right there buzzing through my ears. But I can't let it get to me. Hopping from foot to foot, I turn towards the corner, and when the bell sounds, I'm moving to the center of the ring prepared to fight. I'm prepared to put on a show.

Brigadier Strangways-Teach —

It had been a relief to beat the absolute tar out of Kaiser Fray. She'd started off shaky — understatement of the year — but had managed to get out of her own head and into the zone. It was hard to describe.

That was in the past. The boy opposite her has damn near a foot on Brig Strangways-Teach, but she knows that compared to an opponent named Fray, she'll have no trouble. Six-foot-a-thousand or no, she'll have no trouble with Fin-der-gah. Assuming she can get his name unstuck from her head. Fin. der. gah. Fin. der. gah. It sounded nice: the same stress patter as she was used to saying herself — (Strang. ways. teach.) — but the syllables blended together better. Finnnndergaaaah.

Once upon a time, in a whisper hidden behind Roger's hands, he might've been Lurch or Stretch or Beanstalk. Brig never had the talent for teasing — or the heart, for that matter. In hushed voices and hidden behind hands, Brig had been dubbed too many things to ever be in the mood to rename her foes, her few friends. And when she tried, everything came out too cruel or too... unusual.

On the plus side, minced words and misunderstandings had adequately prepared her for beating up on boys twice her size — which was particularly handy, present circumstances considered.
