With the reaping approaching so quickly, I was starting to get worried. I knew that my name was in there more than it had been the previous year, and each time, my chances of being thrown into that death match would only increase. It was a truly frightening thing to think about, so I tried my best not to dwell on the topic. I knew that I just needed to do something to distract myself, and I knew that the best way to distract myself would be to do something that I enjoy. Thinking wasn't even needed for me to determine exactly what would get my mind off of things. I needed to paint.
I've always loved painting. People have called me an artist plenty of times throughout my life, and I quite enjoy hearing that. It makes me feel better about what I do in my spare time. Painting is a passion of mine, especially when it involves nature and a lot of beautiful colors. Quite a bit of the snow outside had melted, too, which meant that I would have more of an opportunity to paint outdoors, which I enjoyed more than indoors. It meant that there was a lot more to take in and apply to the work that I was creating.
Preparing myself to go out to paint, I grabbed my easel, some paints, a few different sized paint brushes, a pallet to mix my paint on, and some water to rinse my brushes with. Then, I headed out the front door and made my way down the street a little ways. Eventually, I got to a clearing where there were very few people. Making my way to an unpopulated portion of the field, I set up my easel and supplies that I needed. I observed my surroundings, and began painting what I saw. The ground was muddy and wet, which meant I'd be using a mixture of browns and greens. Of course, there was still some snow, meaning that I'd likely have a bit of white in various places. The sky was a beautiful blue, and I knew that this would be a different type of scene than I normally painted.
As I worked on my artwork, I saw something that I didn't usually include in my work, and decided to add it in. There was a person, a bit too far away for me to recognize who it was, staying just still enough for me to implement them into what I was doing. I began painting this person into my painting, and was working for a while until I had finally finished that portion of the image. Then, moving on to another part, I silently hoped that the person would approach me to see the work. Unfortunately, there was no guarantee, and personally, I hated being the one to approach the other person first.
