Hands paint shadows upon every step he takes to his doom. They wouldn't remember him. He wouldn't remember him. Riordan Would fall into the darkness and give in to death himself. Walking a thin line of life and death was his daily existence. The line only grew thinner and thinner as he walked. Eventually it would fade and he'd fall into the pits of a new life, where he can see them all again. If he had to walk that line for much longer, he was going to go mad. He'd be one of those mysterious weirdos that goes grey at nineteen. Crazy phrases spouting out of his mouth. And as he painted the shadows with every step, he felt the urge to run. Hide away from death and never try to face him in the slightest.
You're strong Rio.
When his parents made a surprising appearance, he felt his heart beat. Their eyes filled with anger and resentment at him. He's seen it in their eyes before. The day he ran away and said he was never going to look back. Some nights he remembers wishing that he had stayed locked away in those rooms, until he was nothing but skin and bones, collapsing in on itself. Maybe then he wouldn't have to suffer through the pain around him. If only he had been stronger. IF only he had been smarter. If only. That's all he could think of anymore. If only. A simple phrase packed with so much emotion that he was collapsing in on himself already. Next was his adopted brat of a brother, who called him an arrogant fool. There were no lies between them. He was right. Riordan Einfallen was arrogant for thinking he could live with the fact of everyone he knew was dead.
When the door opened to reveal a Casovnik, something in Riordan's chest shattered. He could feel the air tense up and this was all he could do. Hold his breath. If he let go of it, he might break. Break internally, letting tears pour down his face. He was stronger than that. His voice was cracked with nerves. He was walking a fine line, painting silhouettes along the way. The room's walls show no escape for him. All he could do was face him head on. No tears and strong words.
"A Casovnik decided to come see me. Let's talk, Jay?"
