This was where Fallon would take her final stand.
It wasn't in her private training center, where she was fairly certain the real life monsters were going to eat her. It wasn't in the Arena, which she hadn't even begun to think about despite the fact that everyone kept telling her she should be worried about it. It wasn't even in the darkness of her own bedroom back home, facing down the monsters that seeped from the walls and oozed between the floorboards.
Fallon would take her final stand in front of the doors of the Training Center, where she was currently stacking as many chairs, pillows, and blankets as she could possibly get her hands on.
She'd torn the sheets and comforters off her bed and stripped all the couches on her floor of their cushions, carrying them down the elevator one armload at a time. She'd also borrowed some of the armchairs in the hallways - they looked so uncomfortable that she doubted anyone would miss them anyway. If they did she would just put them back in the morning, when the statue-ghosts were far less likely to make their attack.
The barricade rose to about her chest, and she still had more blankets and pillows to add. Fallon wasn't sure it would completely stop them from coming through, but she figured it would at least slow their progress enough for everyone to escape. She'd decided sometime around midnight that not only did she not want the statue-ghosts to kill her in her sleep, but she didn't want them touching any of the other tributes, either. She didn't want them to stab Zanita before she could pull her own knife, or slash at Lorenzo Not-Ruined when his back was turned. The other tributes were her friends, and she didn't want them to die.
So she'd decided she'd protect them, if only because they all seemed too blind to protect themselves.
